Question about Dell Latitude D630 Laptop Computer PC Notebook
My Dell Latitude D630 powers up and boots into Windows XP, but then it freezes after a few seconds. I can't scan for viruses or turn off anything because it freezes before I have a chance to. If I boot into safe mode it doesn't freeze. I've tried to delete the latest installed apps, but some cannot uninstall in safe mode. Please please help!
Try a System Restore and select a restore date before your problems started.
To get to the System Restore - Click on Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Try this. Press down hard on the f7 and f8 keys while trying to turn it on. Some if it does turn on then odds are that the solder joints on the bios chip (which is below the f7/f8 keys) are bad. You can try to touch it up yourself, but it is not an easy job.
As far as I can tell the d600/600m have this issue a lot.

Just use recovery console of windows xp bootable media and use the following command.
chkdsk (to check the volume).
It happens due to improper shutdown methods which has caused the system volume to corrupt the MBR.

while in safe mode with network connectivity, go to trend micro website and do a free online scan. If you have Windows Defender updated, then try a full system scan, also while in safe mode.

I noticed a bios update for your laptop from the hp site
You can download it here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-64061-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=228&product=1842189
It is dated 8 of 2008 and it may or may not address your problem. I would try this first befor I would replace your screen.
