Walker mower starter

Walker mower, cannot find starter 2005 MTL model, seems to be sticking, and do not understand much about these mowers. Just need help to save a costly repair bill. Turn the engine key, and hear a click noise but no turn over of the engine.

SOURCE: My riding mower blows fuses once you turn the key.

Sounds like you are on the right path, maybe some wires on the ignition were replaced backward, and you are sending +12v directly to ground? Does it blow right away?

SOURCE: nothing happens when you turn on the lawn mower

Check your seat, drive safety switches. Can you turn the engine with jumper cables attached to the starter? It won't start, but should turn over, one of your safety switches is not working.

If you hear the PTO click when you turn the ignition on, sounds like the PTO button is pulled out like you were engaging the blades. The engine will not start if the PTO button is pulled out....

SOURCE: 18hp craftsman riding mower model#917.255913. won't turn left!

I have had this problem for the longest time. I replaced the secondary gear twice. Helped for a brief period and now won't turn left again. Replaced the steering shaft and worked for a brief period. Back to no left turns once again. The issue is with the secondary gear and bearings (plastic) which is only a temporary fix. What I had done was welded a piece of steel to the bottom of the steering shaft eliminating the secondary gear connecting directly to the tie rod for the steering. Works perfect now.

Walker mower pulls to the right

If this is a self propelling mower, check the inner wheel gear patterns for wear. Remove each wheel, only the ones that are self propelling. On the inside of each you will see the jagged pattern that rides on the mowers propelling gear, the plastic eventually wears out causing one to catch better than the other hence you will get pulling on either side.

Hi,

Sorry about this problem but i would suggest that you flush oil and get new oil into it. Please do this and your problem would be solved.
