To best of my knowledge no such remote. Do you mean the 976lm. Did you try changing batteries and press the learn button on the opener.?

Actally, its a Sears HBW0777 and one of the senors has a non-working LED, so maybe it has failed. That would explain why the remote works fine for opening the door but not for closing it.

There you have it. True. Check to make sure sensors are aligned, no wire shortage. (happens commonly due to wrong stapling), and that no water damage to the sensors.
If after all that still no led on sensor, you can get new ones at most home depot/Sears for like $35, installation is pretty straight forward. Good luck.
    Keep me informed.

Unhooking the wires disconnected the safety sensors completely. The safety sensors are required to close the door. Both lights should be on, the lenses should be able to see each other clearly, and the wires between the sensors and the opener must be intact, in order for the system to function properly. Reconnect the wires to the opener, adjust the aim of the sensors, ensure there is no debris in the sensor lenses, and if it still doesn't work, you'll need a set of replacement sensors.

I have the door bell style wall button-how do I unlock the unit so the remotes can be synched? I have pressed green button on back of unit with remotes but they won't operate the door.

You don't unlock anything to program the opener for the remotes. If everything is working you do this:

Press and hold the button down on the remote while you press and immediately release the smart/learn button. Do this for each remote.

The garage door remotes and keypad works only when i,m very close to opener, will not work at more then 6 ft away from opener. sears hbw0777

How old are the batteries in the remotes and keypad? Replace the batteries. If that helps, then you have solved the problem.

If it doesn't help, then check the antenna wire of the opener. (Make sure it is extended down from the unit.) Note this doesn't apply to all garage door openers. (We have several models - some with the external antenna and some without.)

Does your garage have metal walls and metal doors? This can shorten the range between the receiver and the remotes or keypad. An antenna extension may be available.

I don't see the HBW077 as a model number at Sears Parts Direct or Manage My Life. Please check the model and let me know if I can provide any additional assistance. (Sears Parts Direct has parts for my garage door openers. Manage My Life has manuals for Craftsman and Sears appliances.)

I hope this helps.

Anytime the main light flashes 10 times and the door reverses to the open position it is a door sensor problem. If the transmitting sensor light is blinking it is bad.

I just bought a house with 2 Chamberkain Gararge door operners. They have no remotes with them. They both are HBW0777 1/2 ho from 1994. Issue is I have no manule or digrame to look to check the wireing .

If I were you I would check the yellow pages for a Chamberlain dealer and explain the situation. They can give you prices and also make sure the openers are working correctly. They also can get you an owners manual. The model number you give doesn't come up at Chamberlains website.

I had the same issue yesterday with my remotes which are model 850CB. I fixed it by following these steps on Chamberlain's help site:
1. Press & release the "learn" button on the motor unit. 2. Within 30 seconds, press and hold the button on the remote. 3. Release the remote button when the light bulb on the motor blinks. It has learned the code.

http://help.chamberlain.com/help/en-us/programmingInstructions/ and enter your remote model number for re-programming instructions.

That worked for me. Not sure why it "lost" the code in the first place. By the way, I only had to do this for one remote, the other started working after the first was re-learned.

Same problem - The flashing wall button indicates the remotes are locked out. I fixed mine by pushing the green button on the back of the opener. I did nothing else , just left the LED time out.
