Question about Janome Memory Craft 9000 Computerized Sewing Machine

1 Answer

When I turned on my MC 8000 and stared sewing it was stitching fine but very slow. I tried cleaning the bobbin and resetting the machine but it is still slow.

SOURCE: The bobbin grinds when I start to so

Hi,

Sounds like a bobbin case related problem. Unplug the machine, then remove the needle plate to get access to the black bobbin case. Inspect the underside of it  VERY carefully for ANY marks or roughness. You can expect very fine 'scratches', but no chunks or rough bits. Now check the metal rim that the bobbin case sits on is PERFECTLY smooth. particularly look for any tiny burrs on the top or inside edge of the rim, or any sign of a needle hit. Should not be any! If there are, the mechanic shoul fix it at no extra cost cos he missed the problem. Whilst checking the bobbin case, look for ANY marks on the top surface of it. The SLIGHTEST mark WILL upset the sewing.

Hope this assists!

SOURCE: bobbin thread bunching

I agree with brodering about the damage to your bobbin case, it should be smooth all over, as the thread travels across the top surface to form a stitch, and the small step on the underside locates it as the hook spins underneath.

Needle strikes often compromise the surface, as will the hook colliding with the under surface... and although it is possible to gently polish off the damage with fine grain wet & dry (black) sand paper (emery paper) there are limits to the success depending on the degree of damage.

While on the subject, ensure the bobbin case and hook race beneath are clean and free of lint or thread.

SOURCE: Bobbin winding message

Under the top cover, on the right hand side where the bobbin winder is, there is a small switch which is activated when the bobbin is being wound. You will need to remove the cover and reposition the switch (it's located towards the front of the machine) to make it work properly.

The upper tension will not tighten on my Janome MC 8000. I have had it since '93 with no problems and all of a sudden when I was stitching the tension became loose on top (it was looping and making a mess...

Check for lint or thread in the top tension unit.....try "flossing" (as you would teeth) with a clean cloth.
Symptoms indicate top tension is being kept slightly open by debris.
Playing with the screw inside the cover on left of tension unit is not a great idea, it is designed for fine adjustment when tensioner is clean, so try to reset back to what it was before fiddling if you can remember how may turns you made.
If you continue to have problems, send a quick email (please mention the model and issue, we get a LOT of requests) and I shall see what else we can do to get you back on track.

Sewing slowed and then stopped

Hello,
If you are unable to move the wheel then something is locking up the mechanism.
Please try removing the bobbin and the bobbin case and try turning the wheel.
If the unit does not jam, try reinserting the bobbin and the bobbin case. You might need to consider replacing the bobbin case if the unit jams again.
If it still jams without the bobbin case in, then the mechanism might be broken and you should bring the unit to be looked at by a brother tech. Brother techs will look at the machine and diagnose the issue free of charge and will only charge you if they have to do any out of warranty repairs.
Thanks,
Pat

Memory Craft 8000 LCD almost non-useable. Are replacement screens available? Is there any way to repair the display?

Yes, they can be replaced, we have them in stock. But first there are some questions about whether there are also issues with stitch selecting IN ADDITION to the dark screen, to ensure you would actually benefit from the repacement.

To find out, I can send you instructions to Reset the Touchscreen and also how to run the Self Test Routine, simply... Contact me. ALSO... Please just be sure to mention specifically what you need, as we do get quite a number of enquiries of various types each day.

Why is my screen showing the 'bobbin threading' icon??

Perhaps the bobbin winding mechanism is stuck. Probably needs service.

Also, check the bobbin and bobbin case. Perhaps there is some thread stuck or it is not securely threaded through the tensioner.
