Re: hp pavilion dv9000..forgot password and now its...
If you don't mind starting from scratch again this time forget putting in a password for you login or if you do want a password then wtite it in black texta on the black area of your battery bay with the battery out of course - you can still see it if you angle the bay but its not easly picked up.Then if you forget it again take out the battery and there is your password. Now on power up hit F11 untill you see recovery manger process start - hit the advanced button - select full system restore - no backup - full detructive and your unit will reimage from the recovery partition and be ready to use in approx 75min. Do your power settings after fully into the OS again and look after your laptop.

I have an out of warranty dv9000 and haven't had wireless for months. I just discovered HP issued a recall for the wireless and other problems with several different Pavilion and Presario models. For the wireless problem with the dv9000 they are replacing the motherboard on all notebooks in or out of warranty. I was wondering if anyone has had the repair done under the recall and how it turned out? I'm also wondering if HP is still cosmetically trashing notebooks when they are sent in for repair? Here is the link for the recall: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...842189&lang=en
It is because your wi fi network adapter not getting ip addresses from router. For that connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then access it with following link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1
type user name as "admin" and password as "admin" or blank or "password"
then go to advaced and enable DHCP . Then save and restart router.
Then go to your laptop go to my etwork places proeprty then right click on your wi fi adapter then proeprty then tcp ip and set ip get automatic. Then it works fine. Let me know if you need more assistanse. Thanks.
