There may be a purity alignment problem, or the mask in the CRT may be
defective or magnetized. The tech should first check to see if the
degaussing coil around the CRT is working properly. He can also try
using a manual degaussing coil to demagnetize the mask.

The purity alignment is not something the end user can do himself.
There are also some safety issues in doing this yourself, and you would
require the proper training and setup to do this.

If the CRT mask is defective the CRT will have to be replaced.

Check its solder terminal at the CRT board [Filament voltage]. It sounds like the filament do not glow after some time due to a loose contact at the CRT base connector sockets. Check it.

If this does not help, check the ABL circuit for any open resistor.

With HV variation the color will not be good. Sometimes I have heard that the screen resistor causes this.

Color is all messed up and the reset button will not reset.. what do we do to fix it?

Describe the problem more clearly (color blotches purple and green?) But it sounds like the set is probably magnetized and needs degaussing (demagnetizing).
All CRT type TV's have an internal demagnetizing circuit that is engaged when the set is first turned on after being off for the day.
If this circuit is working then you sometimes hear a "bonk" sound (about 1/2 a second long when the set is first turned on. If this circuit isn't working the set will become magnetized over time and will have to be degaussed using a degauss coil available at a TV repair shop (cost aprox. $35.00) and you should have the circuit checked at the same time. A set will also become magnetized if a large speaker (magnet) or motor is close to the TV. Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

I have an RCA 36 inch tv, the color is messed up, it has a round circle and it will not change channels

If the set wasn't dropped or physically dammaged the chances of it being the picture tube is very small.

This may sound stupid but try this turn the volume knob to high and low continously for a few seconds sometimes the contacts become dirty and just a little movement back and forth quickly repairs it. I said SOMETIMES.

Samsung DLP loud vibrating noise

The color wheel is the most common problem in DLPs that cause noise. To determine the cause: Turn the set off. If the noise goes away after about five seconds, then, the problem is the color wheel. If the noise goes away one to two minutes after shut off, then, the problem is a fan. You can find an Authorized Servicer in your area that can tell you the price of repair, by clicking on the Samsung link: http://www.samsung.com/Support/ServiceLocations/index.htm

KV-XJ29M50 29" TV-Loud thumping sound on startup

Symptoms are not related, what you hear is the high voltage turning on and that is normal if it only does it for less than a second, the grainy picture might be intermitant, dont turn it off, when the picture is grainy tap the side of the set to see if it racts and if it does you know you have a loose conection. This could be outside because of a loose ground on tha cable or inside in the tuner.
