Load the originals, with the print side up, into the document feeder tray. If you are sending a single-page fax, such as a photograph, you can also load the original on the glass. If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

In order to fax, I just need to know whether to place the paper face-up or face-down.

If it is on the table top then face down. If you are doing it through the auto feed then face up.

Do I fax face up or down?

Document feeders on Brother printers usually take paper face up in my experience. However there should be a symbol on both the paper feed and the paper tray that indicates which way the paper should be positioned. For example...

No problem, but don't know if the print goes face side up por down into the printer when faxing

Where you put the paper must be a little icon like a page with lines, if you see this put the paper face up. I am surprise you did not check with a fax recipient to see if they got it (Blank paper or the fax)

When sending a fax do i place the paper with the print side up

You place the paper face side up when feeding through the loader on top. You can also scan the fax in placing the paper face side down on the glass plate of the scanner portion.

When you send a fax is the paper face up or face down

It depends on which FAX-machine you are using,
since they're not all the same.

Look for a small icon (like a piece of paper, with one corner folded-over) near the feed-tray, for a pictorial guide.

Or, try it both ways, to see which one works.

HOW TO ALIGN SCAN IN A PAPER WHEN COPING

Two ways
1-just lay the paper on top facing up and hit copy and it will feed in to the rollers and print
2-open the scanner, and lay paper face down using the built in marker, "edge", and close lid hit scan

if using the feeder probably face up as it will likely pull the document in and invert it to lay face down on the scanning glass.

if you lift up the feeder (like lifting the top of a copy machine), then it would be face down on the glass.

there should be an image on the feeder illustrating how the document should be placed - if it looks like a page with lines on it with a bent corner then it is face up.
