Question about Directv (R10) DTV Receiver / 70-Hours Video Recorder
It won't power on. Lights flash for a second in back, don't hear hard drive spinning but I hear a hum or the fan inside. I've tried resetting several times and unplugging/plugging. HELP!
One last thing you can do, if it doesnt work the dvr is dead. reset the dvr and wait for the hello screen and then the screen will go black. when it turns black, hold the down arrow (on the front of the dvr) and the record button for at least 5 secs. this will re-format the hard drive. if it doesnt work the dvr is dead

SOURCE: Hi, I have a Directv
unplug all the cables from the back except the your video output ( hdmi, component,) restart the receiver. if u still have the problem then it is dead. if it starts up there is a problem with the cabling or dish and your will need a service tech.
