Question about Bose SoundDock Portable Digital Music System for Apple iPod - Black
I need to replace the battery in the remote control. The backside has a 1" round section that has a vertical notch that is about 3/4" long, that looks like it would be easily opened by using a quarter and turning it. However, it doesn't turn (is seemingly glued shut).
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Well, there really was nothing to it.
I let it dry out for the rest of the day and it went back to normal, thankfully.

SOURCE: BOSE SOUNDOCK CONNECTRO BROKE
You can't - the repair needs to be done centrally as the company would be at risk if it sold electrical parts to people who aren't qualified to repair such items. Therefore you need to call Bose and have this repaired, however it's quite a common fault so shouldn't cost too much.

i did the same thing.... i worked for ccity and when we were closing they were about to throw away the display soooo it found its way 2 my car... there was no power port... call bose and go through the automated bs and tell the customer service rep ur power cable died and u tested "ur friends power cable" and it worked fine... tell them u need both parts and if its like my item it should still b under warrenty and they will ship it for free. if not u can just order the parts.

Unfortunately I've never seen a universal remote that will control the extra functions of this. If it's the original SoundDock, you can only do: volume, power, play/pause, skip/scan. If this is a SoundDock II or SoundDock Portable, you can only control: volume, power, play/pause, skip/scan, and playlist up/ playlist down. Quite honestly, that's all I need to do on my SoundDock. I can't really read what's on my iPod from where I'm sitting in the first place. It may be possible to use a universal learning remote for this, but you'd have to teach commands from an apple remote as well as the bose remote, and the learning remote (+apple remote) may cost you over 1/3 the cost of the SoundDock. It also may not work perfectly. I hope this helps somewhat.
