SOURCE: Problems with Dell Inspiron 9400 Video Memory conflict -

This solution is totally incorrect. He is having the problem that many of us face with the GeForce Go 7900 GS and the Inspiron 9400. There is a known issue with eventual overheating and the video card going bad. This is specific to the single-pipeline chip, in which their is a new dual-pipeline style that fixes the cooling/overheating issue that eventually fries the video chip. Dell has not 100% took ownership of this. I am on my fourth fried video card (thank god for the 3-year warranty I got) in which they have previously replaced with the single-pipeline style. This time they are finally replacing the laptop with either a new Inspiron 9400 (better be dual-pipeline chip) or a NEW equivalent laptop.

SOURCE: Dell Latitude D620 Full System Recovery?

It's easy to miss the point at which you hit Ctrl + F11. You need to hit Ctrl + F11 at the point you see the blue bar across the top of the screen, it will display www.dell.com. If this is still not working you can use the XP operating system CD to reinstall XP and the Dell drivers CD to reinstall the sound, video, network and other drivers. If Dell didn't send you the operating system CD, you should contact them.

Unfortunately the error that you getting means that there is a problem with the hard drive. So you will need to replace the drive in the system. Note the D620 uses a SATA drive.

Let me know if you have any more problems or questions

How do I read a memory stick in my Dell latitude

hi, just put the memory stick into your card/stick reader port on your laptop then wait a minute or two and if nothing appears on the screen just go into my computer and then you should see the stick listed under my computer, if not then you need to check if your laptop can read that sort of stick.

The kind of memory computers have problem with is like nokia memory cards but all memory sticks should work, if its a usb type stick then this will show up under my computer, it should load up on its own but if not look under my computer.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

I changed hard drives and now I can't load my programs back on

ok thanks for you prompt reply.
when you say laptop not reading HDD it allows you to see dell logo but after that there should be a msg an error msg saying no boot device been found..or just a black screen?
check BIOS if hdd is detected. if yes then it means windows is problem probably but we need to double check on this. run diags on the hdd alone use the dell diags disc. check if you get erorr code. running the diags is like this. keep tapping on F12 after seeing dell logo then insert disc when you see the options. select cd dvd rom drive then press enter then run diags custom test for hdd.

Dell latitude d620 wont turn on

Did you upgrade the RAM when you upgraded to Vista. The D620 does not have the resources to run vista as pre-configured and requires, at the least, a memory upgrade. 1gb or greater is recommended.

Please upgrade the ram, or try F8 during boot for Safe-Mode and see if your RAM is not the issue. To check the amount of RAM you have:

Press and Hold Windows Key + PauseBreak

If you still have 256mb or 512mb vista is likely to barely crawl.

Let us know what you find.
