Question about Panasonic CT-32G34 34" TV

1 Answer

Black screen I bought this TV in the summer of 1999. It was demo tv at Circuit City. Now the picture suddenly goes black but the sound stays on. If left on it eventually comes back and then goes away again. Sometimes turning the TV off for a few minutes and back on brings back the picture but it goes away again. After a prolonged period of staying on and the picture intermittently disappearing (from onset to every 10m or more) it can stay on for over an hour. When turning off the TV a bright white line appears momentarily in the middle. Is this TV worth repairing?

Re: Black screen

Could be some bad solder connections on the crt socket or around the flyback area dealing with the brightness

Tv problem

Check its horizontal output section circuit for any loose solder terminals. Resolder all suspected solder terminals by applying little more fresh solder. Replace the horizontal output transistor. If this transistor have some leak, it will overheat within minutes will shut down the picture.

Sony kv35s66: No picture, just sound and red blinking

This should be a quick fix. Try resoldering the vertical IC. This is a small flat IC attached to a heat sink with about 11 pins. It should be marked LA7837 or something similar. That should resolve the problem.

Keep us posted.

Tv has sound but picture is black

good day.
The crt circuit of the unit might be loose or the the parts inside the board is loose. Have it hecked by a technician first. Minor parts inside might caused the problem.

Response is highly appreciated.

Sony Trinitron - Picture Disappears

Hi, IK circuit is engaging which basically means the picture tube is getting tired, the only "fix" is temporary (may get another year out of it). You have to increase the "screen control clockwise".
Remove back of set, follow large black or red wire attatched to picture tube down to the flyback transformer, mounted on flyback are two black controls, one is focus (leave it alone) the other is "screen", adjust it clockwise approx. 1/4 inch, remember that this is a high voltage circuit so use one hand in the set the other hand out of the set at all times, any questions ? e-mail me back, good luck, BMW Rider

Sound and no picture

Hi, if your getting half a picture AND the other half is black the vertical circuit is failing, either solder is broken or vertical IC needs to be replaced, not a pricey fix, BMW Rider

Sony kv35s66: No picture, just sound and red blinking

The most common problem (I have fixed lots) is the Vertical amplifier has developed a loose connection. It probably just needs resoldering. As things expand it makes and looses connection you picture goes in and out. The vertical chip is a large black chip that gets hot, over time it degrades the solder until a connection is damaged. Most newer sets have a protection circuit that senses the lack of height, and shuts down the picture tube to save it. When the picture dropped to a line on older TVs and left that way too long it would burn a line into the face of the picture tube. You then had to have the picture tube replaced along with the vertical amp. it's kinda like a screensaver for your TV.
