Yes, It's a predictive error that it will soon fail.Only when is not known. Contact HP for a replacement. They are pretty good if you are still under warranty.

Warranty check.

SOURCE: A Disk read error occurred upon booting

This could be a sign of the hard drive having a problem.
I would recommend that you do a scan of the hard drive to check for errors.
You didn't mention which operating system you have, but you need to click on My Computer and then right-click on your hard drive. Go to Properties and then Tools.
Once there, select the option that tells you to check the disk for errors. Check the entire drive. Note that this will not run right away. You must restart your computer, as the utility needs exclusive access to the hard drive.
If this type of error reoccurs, it's time to back up your data, 'cause you probably have a hard drive that is dying.

SOURCE: hdd primary pasword is lost cannot open hard disk

Most modern laptop HDD or BIOS passwords are not resettable and don't come with default passwords to unlock them if the password is forgotten.

You will need to contact Acer and find out what kind of warranty coverage your machine has. It's likely that you will have to pay for the services they provide or pay for a new hard drive yourself and re-install Windows.

SOURCE: I get a fatal error

windows has corrupted files and can not continue to load "software issue" or there may be bad sectors on the hard drive. To test this! If you have the original recovery disc, try and reload your operational system if successful it proves software problem. If this fails! the hard drive needs to be pulled and tested or use the smart software to test the hardware in the computer, if it fails replace the hard drive.

Non-System Disk or Disk Error Boot from CD

The error means that the CD you have in the drive is not a system disk. Remove it. Are you trying to boot from a CD, if so make sure it is a repair disk or operating system disk. If not, remove the disk and you system will then look to boot from the Hard Drive.

Run the Check Disk Utility.
To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc ora operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot fromit. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with whiteletters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice thepercentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run tocompletion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows.Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair whenthe options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recoveryconsole and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

ERROR CODE 0F00:065D

If your hard drive shows as empty, you should be able to reinstall your operating system from the system disk.
If the disk has failed, though, it will not accept the operating system. You'll have to buy a new hard drive.
In a Dell computer, if you press the special function key to select a boot option (I think it's F12), one option should be diagnostics. Here you can test the hard drive. If it comes up with an error, you'll know for sure what the problem is.

Get a new drive in a caddy and boot your computer within safe mode (press F8 as it loads).
Copy all you can to the new drive.
If you cannot do that, buy a replacement hard drive and load your system disk in the CD Rom drive booting from it. When the system is loaded and running, power the desktop down, fit the old drive and set the jumper as SLAVE.
Boot up your desktop and there will be what is left of your data on drive D. Copy all you require before it is too late!
Hope that helps.

I purchased a used vaio vgc-rb43. Upon turning on a message appears stating "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device" What can I do from here?

It probably is a "dead" disk-drive inside the computer.
So, the computer would try to boot from the 3.5-inch diskette drive, or the CD/DVD drive,
if there was "bootable" media inside the device.

So, you need to take the computer to a computer-store, to remove the "dead" disk-drive,
and for them to sell you a "new" and "compatible" disk-drive.

Then, you must re-install Windows (did the seller include a set of "System Restore") CD/DVD disks? Or, can you telephone Sony, and order a replacement set of those disks?

Disk Read Error upon startup

It is likely a bad hard drive. You can boot the system to a CD or DVD if you have a windows disk, this will somewhat check all other functions, and will not boot to the hard drive. You may have to go into the BIOS and switch the boot order to have the dvd drive before the hard drive. This may help troubleshoot. Some OS dvds will also have system diagnostics on them to help you troubleshoot, has to be a bad hard drive though. When you buy a new one, just see if you have the large cable (IDE 20-40 pin wire) or the small cable (SATA narrow 1/2" wire) going to the motherboard. Buy the corresponding drive and install. You may have to purchase windows discs from your manufacturer.

Error code 2000-0146 when diagnostics is ran and also says has disk read error after

Hi,
The hard drive has failed. You can try to boot from the installation disk and do an OS repair. This will not lose you data. If you do an OS reinstall, you will lose everything. Even if you get a new drive (is it still under warranty?), you may not be able to recover the data using an external drive enclosure. If it's under warranty, you will be able to get a replacement drive containing the OS. If not, you will need to buy a drive and install the OS from the install disk. Then buy the external drive enclosure (not expensive), install the old drive and try to recover your files. If it won't cooperate, some people have been successful by freezing the drive for a while, thawing and trying to recover. Using a commercial data recovery company to get your info off the drive will cost as much as a new computer.

Good luck.

Dell 8250 Hard drive 0 not found after move from US to UK

IT sounds like the hard drive went bad, especially with the clicking noise. If you want to keep the system, you will need to buy a new drive (relatively cheap) from tigerdirect or newegg and istall it. NOt sure if dell still send out recovery cds with their systems but if you have one just insert the cd after you install the new drive and follow the prompts. If you do not have one contact dell support and they should beable to send you one

no you just need to fix your bios problem, if you dont have the manual take the battery out of the motherboard that keeps power to the bios keep it out for a few minutes put it back in then turn it on it should go to bios automatically then just go to set best defaults for ststem hit y for yes then hit enter and it should take off fine if it dont then you need to take it to a pro who can reset it for you manually or reprogram it that would be cheapest for you without trashing it.
