Question about Sony Minidisc Deck Mds-je510 Recorder
Only sometimes it will play but now most of the time the disk is stacked inside and a eject sound is going continuously. Of course this wonderful machine is faced out for obvious reason and so far no on can fix the problem. Is there anyone who experienced similar problems in the past and could help me ( and my technician) with some good hinds?
. This webpage will (eventually) show you how to shim the microswitch: http://snnake11.tripod.com/ .
The 510 is from 1998 and is a bit long in the tooth. Later models sound better. Buy a used one from ebay or craigslist. It's easier and cheaper than trying to fix and old one.
And see the MiniDisc Equipment Browser -- http://www.minidisc.org/equipment_browser.html

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Only just seen your question whilst trawling for old unanswered questions.
My answer will be way too late for you, but may be of benefit to others searching the site.
You didn't state the make and model of MiniDisc player, but the symptoms are classic indicators of a failed playback head.
Sadly, it's irreparable. It's definitely not a DIY job, the parts will almost certainly be impossible to find, and even if you can, will cost more than obtaining a replacement model.
I'd suggest that you search or post a request on your local FreeCycle/Freegle group (first postings must always be to offer something, but you can reply to existing offers straight after joining). Failing that, you can pick a unit up very cheaply on auction and classified sales websites.

SOURCE: Hi have an mds-je500 minidisk
The small limit switch for the disc in position typically goes bad on about 40% of all Sony Minidisc recorders. It is a $5 part, but will probably cost you $35 to get it installed.
