Warning Is something stuck in machine? Is cloth too thick? Is needle bent?i

  • sylviaivie Oct 26, 2012

It certainly couldn't hurt to change the needle. Something **** in the machine is likely threads and such in the lower area. Take some time to pull the bobbin and needle plates, use caution if they are plastic. Get a magnifying glass and really examine under there. Get tweezers and pluck out any stray threads and fluff. Look carefully around where the parts meet. If when you are done you don't see anything use the magnifying glass and a good flashlight and look in the slots of your upper thread path. I've had threads get caught up in the tension area and the take up lever area on more modern machines before. Good luck

Undo the screw on the bobbin case anti clockwise about a quarter of a turn and test and repeat if necessary until you get it right, put the top tension on 4 or 5 first.

Has the bobbin case dislodged and moved? there should be two red marks one on the bobbin case and one on the outer holder, are they lining up? Sometimes as these cases are held by a magnet, they will get dislodged and move slightly, especially in a jam up.
Take out the bobbin case and clean under it, then replace it matching up the red marks.

If the bobbin case has actaully been struck by the needle during a dislodgement, it may well pierce the bobbin case plastic, look for burring or marks on the outer flange area. If this has occured, the thread may catch on the burr as it comes over the bobbin and jam again.

You can buy a new bobbin case if yours is damaged or maybe just file the burring with an emery board (remove it from the machine first of course).

Lastly, check your needle hasn't been bent, burred, or put in backwards, any of these can prevent a stitch from forming.

If all the above fails, then it is possible that the timing has been knocked out and you will need to get it serviced by a technician.

Why is it not stitching correctly?

Rethread your machine completely - I also wind another bobbin
making sure my bobbin is consistent - change needles, make sure
the same thread that is on top is the same thread on the bottom
(same brand, weight etc) and I clean it really good if I still
have trouble with it- that usually does the trick.

Janome 3000 bobbin thread will not catch. It just quit while I was sewing. I've cleaned the bobbin case and anything else I could but when I put the needle down the thread does not circle the b

try changing the needle
rethread the machine top & bobbin
make sure to use every thread guide
make sure the bobbin is not over wound
make sure the bobbin is turned the right way in the bobbin case
make sure the bobbin is not warped or damaged
if you've done all these things then it's also possible that the machine
is out of time & needs to be checked at a repair shop

Thread is tangling in the bobbin casing

Hello

The feed dogs should be in the highest position for regular sewing. If the feed dogs are not raised above the plate it will do this. With the machine unthreaded and no fabric.. run the machine to see if the feed dogs are moving and are working.

Always make sure you have about 3 inches of both threads before taking any stitches, and both threads are positioned directly behind the needle. ( this machine is fussy about this).

make sure you rethread it exactly as the owners manual shows

Change the needle

Change the thread

Take it in for service

Bird nest when trying to sew. Under material by bobbin - tried changing needle, bobbin. Tension - no change to the problem from Auto for regular sewing to 2 for embroidery

i think you have something catch on the tension guides. Try to clean out anything you can see and pull a thread towards the needle. I have done this with a small knot to snare anything but be gentle. Also, rethread carefully.
Try cleaning the bobbin case too

Bobbin keeps balling up. I have taken everything apart and cleaned it out. I have changed the bobbin and needle. What else can I do

I would suggest a new bobbin casing, yours maybe damaged. Also, you may want to check the tracking under the bobbin casing for any dust or lint. This will throw the bobbin off track.

Try changing the needle sometimes over use causes burrs on the end of a needle and always remember to use proper needles to appropriate fabrics. Change needles frequently to avoid unnecessary wear on the feed dog teeth

Janome Memory Craft 9500 Troubleshooting

Have you tried a new needle?

If re-threading, changing the brand of thread, etc. does not work, then it's likely your machine is out of time. Search for sewing machine timing or take it for service.

Janome memory craft 5700, purchased 2004

Take out your bobbin case and examine it for nicks, scratches and or rough spots. If the problem is not too bad it may be possible to buff out the bad spot with an emery stick or emery cloth. If that isn't possible or it makes too much noise after you buff it you will have to replace it. Look especially along the edges and underneath.
