Cartridge stoves generally don't work very well in cold weather because the fuels it uses become less efficient. For example, butane won't work at all below 0 degrees.

I'm going on my first backpack trip and I'm not sure which type stove to use. What would you recommend?

While backpacking, I personally use a cartridge stove because it is really easy to carry around and also I there's barley anything I need to do in order to maintain it. You can read about the different kinds of cartridge (canister) stoves on this website: http://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=2615788011.

What should I look for when buying a camping stove?

When buying a camping stove, you should look for two things:
  • How well the stove performs- mainly the amount of time it takes to boil water. Good performance would be somewhere between 3 and 5 minutes.
  • How efficient the stove is- how long it will be able to cook for. Last thing you want is a camping stove that will stop cooking before your meal is ready.

Lexmark X5690 Use no. 4/5, after refilling, printer will not accept cartridges and won't print.

Try to reseat the cartridges into the printer.
Note that Lexmark does not recommend the use of 3rd party/refilled/remanufactured cartridges. These type of cartridges tend to degrade print quality and cartridge performance.

I have a X7170 it has recently began printing with vertical blank areas on the printed copy. In other words up and down on the page there missing copy. I have changed ink cartridges and this does not help....

Uneven vertical lines can be adjusted by
performing the printhead alignment adjustments.
The user is directed through the Lexmark Solution
Center to perform the printhead alignment
adjustments when replacing a printhead cartridge.
The alignment can also be performed from the
control panel by selecting the Maintenance Option,
then Align Cartridges.

Stove top burners

It is not the cartridge. It is the ignition switch (sometimes called a cooktop switch) I found mine on ebay. In particular it is a faulty rear switch. Save your money on the cartridge.
