What type fuel and oil does this take

My searches of the internet indicate that this appliance is a multi-fuel appliance.
It is supplied with a gas bottle - for use with butane fuel
(see )
Read the reviews on that webpage for reviwers experiences with different types of fuel. Diesel doesn't work, it seems, but kerosenr and unleaded gasoline (petrol) work ok. You may need different connector for gaseous fuel and liquid fuels.
Coleman Naptha fuel apparently works well.
I hope this information is some use.

How is air supply regulated in wood burning stoves?

To regulate air flow, there are damper devices built into the stove, flue and stove pipes. Keeping the air flowing correctly through a wood-burning stove is essential for safe and efficient operation of the stove. Fresh air needs to enter the wood compartment to provide oxygen fuel for the fire; as the fire burns, the smoke must be allowed to rise through the stove pipes, and exit through the chimney.

Do cartridge stoves perform well in all types of weather?

Cartridge stoves generally don't work very well in cold weather because the fuels it uses become less efficient. For example, butane won't work at all below 0 degrees.

The gas stove fire burns with black soot and is only 1 month old

Gas should not burn with soot, if it does it is dangerous as poisonus fumes will be produced as the air/fuel mix is wrong.
Call a qualified gas engineer to check out the installation and make it safe.
