When did you hear the scratchy sound? Was it in the keys when you would press them down, or inside running free?

My calculator just shut off while i was using it, i replaced the triple A batteries but now it still won't turn on, how can i fix it?

TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and hold the 2ND key. Press and hold the + key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.
If this doesn't do it, please reply to this post and we'll go on from there.

There is always a blue line showed up in the middle of screen for my daughter's TI-89 Titanium calculator and froze other functions. Change battery does not solve the issue. Really need help. Billy

I think the blue line is generally unfix-able without replacing the screen, which costs as much as a new calculator. The freezing may be fixable, try taking out the triple A batteries and leaving the calculator to sit with them out for a minute or so, replace them and check if it's fixed. If that doesn't work you can do the same but take out the small button back up battery as well. If you're still not having luck you should call ti cares (800-842-2737) they're usually helpful.

My ti-89 is frozen, no matter what keys i press.and although i took off 4 batteries, but when i put batteries back, it is still same, menu screen.

First try the reset code which is pressing Left-Right-Shift and On at the same time. If that doesn't work you can try removing the batteries and putting them back in while holding the (-) and ) buttons.
If those don't work, there is a back-up battery located under a panel just above the four normal batteries underneath the battery cover. Removing this in addition to the four normal batteries should reset your calculator entirely.
If none of these work then there may be a short in the circuits of your calculator which could have been caused by leaking batteries. In this case you can try disassembling the calculator (being careful to remember how it goes back together) and cleaning the circuit board with circuit cleaner.

My Ti 89 won't turn on an I put brand new batteries in

TI calculators have a habit of dimming the screen contrast when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and hold the diamond key and press the the + key to darken the screen. If you go too far, use the diamond and - keys to lighten the screen.

If this doesn't do it, please reply to this post and we can try more drastic measures, though they may cause the loss of memory.

A hard reset will clear all memory and should give you back control of the calculator.

1. Put the batteries in the calculator.

2. Press and hold left arrow, right arrow, and 2nd keys.

3. Press and release ON.

I've spilled some liquid on my Graphics Calculator TI-89 and after that I can't turned it on.Do you know how I can fix it?

Take the batteries out and wait a couple days for it to dry. put batteries in and see if it works. If it doesn't, make sure the batteries are good and if they are, then you need a new calculator. (if only the screen is damaged then you could try to replace it, but you would be hard pressed to find a new one and install it)
ps. don't try to sell it online as a functioning calculator because any buyer can return it with shipping costs on you.

TI-89 Backup Battery

Usually you will be able to re-install everything. And I would try uninstalling the program first then if that doen't work just pull the batteries out and put them back in or just press the reset button. Hope this helps. =)
