How do I control CPU fan speed on an Acer G45T/G43T-AM3?

CPU Fan speed on one speed - MAX ... EXTREMELY NOISY

This MB seems to be an enigma. I have two PCs that are exactly alike and they use this MB. They were both all but silent when running from purchase until one of the PC's MB died. I have replaced that MB twice and both replacements ran the CPU fan at max only - which as you said is ridiculously loud... like vacuum cleaner loud.

So, all I can say is either the initial batches of these MBs were decent and the rest sucked or we got two extremely rare actually working units while the norm was a POS. I'm still searching for a replacement that actually controls the fan based on the fan's feedback (it IS a 4-wire header after all...) and/or the CPU temp.

Sorry I can't be of more help and I'd sure like to know if you find an answer. Acer should be ashamed if max speed is the only option.

Some gamer or extreme motherboards have this feature, but I doubt ACER does. Try blowing out dust with canned air. This really works for me. I have an older machine, and I live in dusty Vegas so I know what you mean.

The other solution is to look for a bigger and quieter heatsink / fan.

How to fix noisy fan?

look for the fan opening, get a can of air and blow it threw the fan vent, while the computer is off, than let it set for a few minutes than start it back up, if fan is still noisy, than you need a new fan installed.
if you want to do the work yourself you can do it your self. now if you dont want to try it than i have a few place to take it for service.
acer authorized dealer, best buy, or if you have a friend that you trust that will fix it for little to nothing except cost of parts, the fan part for the acer should be around 7-10.00 dollars + labor + shop fees.

Not at full power

Here are 3 things you can try:

1) Download Speedfan - you might be able to control or max out the fan speed with it installed.

2) Get a laptop cooling pad such as this.
3) Check the BIOS settings (F2 after power switch but before Windows loads) - there might be a way to disable fan speed control there - so the fan will run at full speed (noisy!)

If none of that works long term, the heatsink (between the fan & CPU) probably needs to be reseated with fresh thermal grease - a pretty tricky job on a laptop -

Cpu fan noisy/chip fan fail error messages

pils,

Yes. This sounds like a fan issue. The noise often comes from bearings failing within the fan. Also, a failing bearing can make things harder on the motor as it brings the fan up to speed. This is likely the reason that you see increased warnings during the fan speed check while booting because it comes to speed more slowly as bearing wear increases.

I give this a 90% chance that your CPU fan is causing the issue. Since a decent CPU fan will cost you ~$20 online, it's not much out of your pocket if you happen to uncover another culprit.

I'll keep an eye on this post. Let me know how things go.
