Question about Power Generators

Automatic Engine Idle Control

Hello
I have a Coleman Powermate Premium Plus 6875. Model # PC0495503
13 HP Honda GX390 (VXG* GCAA-4003947)
The generator works fine when I adjust the idle up high. But when it is adjusted to idle at a low or normal speed it does not deliver enough power to run things properly.
Now my question is I'm not sure if my unite has auto idle or not apon futher investagation I discovered that what I think is the control for this option is not hooked up. There is a plunger type of device that i followed back from the carb throttle linkage and the two wires are cut off,not connected to anything might this be the problem. Were should these two wires be connected to.?

RPM of the motor and the voltage hertz output of the alternator are directly connected. In this case the motor speed must be set on correct alternator output and locked on that speed. (Star & run on the spicific speed). Normally it would be 1 800 RPM = 110 volts = 60Hz, OR there are in some cases that RPM will be doubled that. It all depends on the make of the unit.

I have exactly the same problem on a 6500w model with the gx390. The engine runs fine and you can adjust the throttle screw to put the correct voltage/power out at any load but it will not adjust its RPM for load changes. I also have the electric plunger with the wires cut off. It came that way from the factory though. So I guess my question is what actualy works as the governor/throttle control on this unit because thats where my problem must be? Is there a mechanical governor inside or does this plunger do it or is it something else?

My coleman generator idle does not go to low idle when there is load on the generator it has idle control.

I could not understand, it doesn't go in low idle when load is connected or no?

It should go to low speed idle with load under 20 - 30 W.

I need to know the procedure in starting a Coleman Generator 5500/6875 11.0 hp Tecumseh. I just purchased it and the previous owner lost the manual for instructions. Please help me. Dolly

I'm not familiar with this particular generator but starting most of these is pretty much the same.

Turn all switches to the generator OFF locate the Carbuerator and put the choke on if it has a small bulb pump it a few times, now here is a trick I use I buy a can of starter fluid and spray a quick spray close to the air intake or air filter. This should work.

Add auto idle to generator

Your genny should already have this feature as it is part of the function to maintain the output voltage, if it isnt working I would look for a service manual for it and taker it from there as there can be many things that could prevent it from working properly
