Find an Optics outlet that deals in this brand. Or a very good optics person will be able to fix it regardless.

Does a Simmons model 533940 work on a 7mm Remington

Any scope will work on any gun. Its effectiveness requires your to match capability with need. A rimfire scope is intended for a 50 yard zero. If you expect to do most of your shooting at 50 yards, it will work fine.

I have a Simmons Model ATV 4515 rifle scope. other

Your scope has 5 adjustments:
1. Eye piece focus - used to focus on the reticle.
2. windage adjustment - should be on the R side of the scope, adjusts lateral impact point.
3. Vertical adjustment - the top turret. Adjusts vertical point of impact.
4. Power ring - adjusts the magnification of the scope.
5. AO ring - Parralax adjustment - used to focus the scope at specific distances. Most markings are not exact, you should set it at the range you are shooting and fine tune focus when you look through the scope.

3-9x40 magnification ring just spins

Without seeing the scope, I can only guess, the zoom ring has lost it's screw, The rear lens will come off easy enough, then peek inside for a loose screw, if you find it, you will see a long twisted slide on the side of the tube just inside, turn it till you can see where the screw went. It should be a set up something like that. when you turn the zoom knob it slides a lens front to rear fast, and it rides on that screw, Check it out.

Simmons 8x32-44ao rifle scope

Is that the "Prairie Master"? I think Simmons is pretty uniform in that range of scopes--elevation adjustment should be the top dial and windage is on the side. The zoom locking ring should be in front of the eyepiece, with the zoom ring just forward of that.

You can download a generic Simmons scope manual from the Simmons site at this link: http://www.simmonsoptics.com/downloads/manuals/archive/HSI_Simmons%20Generic%20Scope%20Adjusting%20Instructions.pdf

At 100 yards bullet walks left to right

I hate to say it, but it is the scope, they just don't have it. It is not just Simmons, but a whole slew of scopes for $100 that are hit and miss. A good scope is $500 and it won't move, You might get lucky and find a good Bushnell, or Simmons, but for the most part, just look at the complaints listed in here, all Taiwan scopes. You never see a Leupold complaint. Nikon is good, and so is Pentax. The old redfield was a good scope.

A red dot shouldn't be disassembled. If it has moisture in it, contact Bushnell (the owners of the Simmons brand now) at this site for warranty information.
