Ok, you have to be careful here if you don't want to but another blower wheel.....the threads on the motor to the blower wheel are in reverse...take a pair of vise grips and put them on the part of the blower wheel thats attched to the motor...looking at the motor the vise rips should be going to the right, let them rest against the base of the dryer, now take channel lockes, or what i use is a pipe wrench and while the visegrips are tighted and resting on the dryer base, place the pipe wrench on the front of the motor(the six sided piece, and turn to the right, it takes some pressure, but it will come off

Comercial maytag dryer will not shut off. tried replacing timer. heats up but will not shut offf

Hello,

When a dryer heats but the timer does not advance especially on the auto. dry setting (not timed dry) the problem is usually always a airflow problem. What needs to be checked is for lint build up in the blower housing, a blocked or restricted. Also on Maytag dryers a problem sometimes is that the blower wheel drive hub where it connects to the motor is stripped so the blower wheel cant move air,typically if that is the case a rumbling will be heard when dryer starts and once again when the dryer stops a rumblimng noise will be heard.

I have a maytag heavy duty gas dryer model number LDG412 i need to know how to clean the vent all the way to the duct, the dryer is getting hot but it is taking a long time to dry clothes now, inside where...

Hello,
while cleaning the venting is never a bad idea and i recommend its done yearly,a common problem with older (the ldg 412 is from the mid 1980's) Maytag dryers isa stripped drive hub on the blower wheel and absolutly no air is being circulated throughout the dryer. A lot of times when starting the dryer and when it stops a rumbling noise will be made if the blower wheel is the problem. To check it if is the blower wheel you can remove the front panel by removing the screws that are a slight angle at the bottom of the front panel,tilt it out toward you at about a 45degree angle,then off. At that point remove the four 5/16" hexhead screws holding on the front drum support,lift it up slighly then off. The blower wheel will be in the lower left corner and you could spin it by your hand if it spins around the motor shaft it slips onto and does not move the drum while turning the blower wheel,it is stripped and needs to be replaced.To replace it remove the 1/4" hex head screws that hold the front plate to the plastic blower housing(7 screws) and the 5/16" hex head in the tab also in the plate in the front of blower housing the plate where come off. To replace blower wheel remove the greenish/black clamp from the center hub and the thin metal ring that fits ina groove on the motor shaft, a special c/e clip ring pliers are needs to remove the ring. A inexpensive pair could be picked up at most places that sell tools(ace hardware/lowes/home depot/sears) The part number for the blower wheel is 303836 it could be purchased at your local appliance parts store or online at;
searspartsdirect.com
repairclinic.com
apdepot.com

I hope this will help you to repair your dryer,

Need blower wheel replaCDED?

If it was your blower wheel it would not make that noise first cheak and see if thewheel has play on the shaft if so then it will need to be replace second turn blower wheel by hand back and forht if there is a screaching sounds if is a dry bearing on the motor .If so if you can live with the sound it will not go right away if not remove motor and replace.If there is play on the wheel you will need clip pliers and normal pliers and remove both clip[ on shaft and clip on shaft revers after install new blower wheel good luck:)

Dryer guide wheel was noisy and I opened the dryer up and found the wheel and stud badly scored. Fixed that and put machine back together and now the motor is very noisy and the machine shuts off...

you need to check the blower fan. the motor has a "D" shaped shaft. over time the blower wears, the motor will spin but the blower does not. the air flow stops and the drier over heats. replace the blower and it should be fine.

Blower moter fan

Before attempting to remove blower, run the motor and note the direction of rotation. The blower wheel can be very difficult to remove. It is screwed on to the motor shaft opposite to the motor rotation such that every time the motor starts, the blower wheel gets tighter. The best way to remove, is to put an adjustable wrench on the blower wheel (from the motor side) and using another wrench or locking pliers on the side of the motor shaft where the belt goes. Rotate the motor shaft where the belt goes, in the opposite direction of normal rotation while holding the wrench on the blower wheel. It will be VERY TIGHT. If unsuccessful, the only alternative is to strike the blower wheel REALLY hard and break it off. GOOD LUCK!

If you need further assistance, let me know
