Question about Muratec F98 Plain Paper Laser Fax

Open Question

Incoming faxes not being recieved

The company I work for has a Muratec F-98 printer/fax/copier that is unable to finish the recieve process of the faxes. The light for the memory recieve is always on and the screen states everything is fine. Our company should be getting around 15+ faxes a day and we have not recieved anything in 2 weeks. I have discussed this with our IT unit, but they are not very helpful. We have contacted repair services for the machine and again, they are not very helpful. Is there a way to clear the built up memory in the system? How can I get our machine to work again? There is absolutely no option for a new machine. I have read through the service manual and can't find anything specific to our problem. I'm not sure what year the machine is, but I do think it was manufactured around 1999. Please help, this is causing exteme backup to our company. Thank you!

SOURCE: fax ready call service

By now this may be a mute point given the time differential ....however;.
if the machine is saying"please call service" do the following..
Press Prog,*,6 ..then press the right arrow key until "service call" appears in the lcd then press ENTER.
aAt this time the display will show the error...favorite was "heater error"
Press STOP to exit.
**If heater error is displayed, you will need a service man to replace the fusing unit in the machine.

Can dial out and receive incoming calls but will

Are you connected to a VOIP line for your fax?
A VOIP line can come from a company like Vonage or your local cable co.

If so:

Unfortunatly, faxing over VOIP (Internet) is not always successful. You might want to talk to your VOIP provider if they have a solution.

If not:

Are you trying with the same fax to send and recieve? Some traditional fax machines have probles connecting to fax modems, which is what you have in an Office Jet.
Try having someone else send you a fax and try sending to another number. Otherwise, you might have a defective fax modem.

Im not very familiar with that that model in particular. I would check to see if the is an auto recieve button on the control panel or in the fax settings. Just a thought not an absolute solution.

Muratec mfx1430 fax problem

To determine if the problem is your 1430 or not.....remove the machine to another location....YOUR HOME; or a friends business where you can plug the machine in and test it. Have someone other than the person who you are having the problem with send you a fax. Once you know its your machine or not you can proceed from there.
