It appears your timer/controller has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

My hotpoint dryer will not stay running unless the start button is held down

What you can do without any tools or experience...

Ok... Let's first assume you have made sure there is nothing keeping the door from closing completely. The start circuit overrides the door switch momentarily to initiate the run circuit.

A malfunctioning door switch is possible but they are simple and built for many cycles. The timer could not be in a "RUN" position. Reposition it to "TIMED " cycle of a reasonable length for the load.

Check the closing of the door and the contact with the door-switch is not obstructed in any way.
Retry the start button....

If it still will not run on it's own, it will require internal testing. I would have to recommend a qualified repair Tech be called.

Hot point wmlt80, dail clicking and turning, cycle wont start,

Yes, I work for GE what you need to do is to resent the appliance. Something should had happened with the computer of the washer. Just unplugged the machine for 40 seconds. You can unplugged or turn off the circuit breaker for 40 second and plugged back in. Select a normal cycle and let it run.

If you by accident press the start button and the cancel button at the same time it puts the washer into demo mode.To switch it off press both buttons at the same time and hold until dEND is displayed. Sometimes you have to keep trying but it will work, it did with mine ok.
