Question about Computers & Internet
Keyboard doesn't work except for a few keys
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

It is possible that the keyboard matrix is shorted so when you use the external kbd it still gets the same errors. See if you can disable the main kbd in bios and if that solves the problem. You could also try removing the main kbd and see what that does. Otherwise you probably have a motherboard problem. The touchpads are usually pretty tough to liquids - check the cable on that.

Removing the keys can sometimes damage the very small retaining clips then it won't clip back in place.
You can get replacement keyboards on the Internet, I've bought keyboards for approx. US$20 from the USA. The keyboard is easy to remove and replace, no need to get a techo to do it.
Check out this WEB site :-

If this problem occurred recently you might still be able to save the keyboard. However, it is a painstaking method of popping out each of the keys that are not working and cleaning them off (preferably with some contact cleaner) and making sure that there is no corrosion trying to form due to the moisture. Be careful when prying up some keys as some keyboards (especially laptop keyboards) are hard to put back if you don't have the right tools or the know how. I suggest looking up keyboard removal techniques based on the brand of your keyboard/laptop.

yes it is probably dead for some reason ..the probabil cause it is a contact for a area..and this is a used but a good price one ...that works ..
here are another if that one seams not on your taste ...among them are even new ones..
to actually change it ..you have to remove the front part that covers the hinges and holds the buttons ..(see that it have spots to insert something on the F1 and f11 keys ) than remove the keyboard itself by pushing it a little toward the lcd..and up..it is snapped in place and slides in a little...Than it has just a ribbon that removes by pulling the safety plastic ends a few mm out ...

SOURCE: My inspiron mini 1018 notebook's
water spills into a notebook, you should fully disassemble the notebook & thoroughly
inspect its inside. Look for any traces of liquid on the circuit boards
& on other components. On circuit boards, liquid damage appears in
the form of whitish traces. These needs to be wiped off. This can be
done using a tooth brush moistened with few drops of hand sanitizer
Check all internal connectors & make sure that no liquid seeped into them. Dry them if needed.
When you are done, re-assemble back the notebook.
If the liquid fell on the keyboard & you found out that the keyboard is no longer working, then you might have to replace the keyboard.
