Question about Lite On Computers & Internet

Open Question

PS-5161-6F My old Fujitsu PC was gone. I opened the case of its power supply and i' ve seen a brown component. The code on the component is unreadable and the "silk" on the board was almost all browned too ( i can read only the final number ..160). May be it is a diode and is over and parallel to a power resistor "R125" (2WJ 0.20).

SOURCE: I removed the power supply to install motherboard

All the wires from the power supply are power connectors, depending upon the motherboard not all power connectors from the power supply maybe required. If there are no matching sockets on the motherboard, then that power connector is not required.

SOURCE: Thermaltake HPC-420-302DF Power Supply Problem

We would have to have the parts list, and specifications to know that. Maybe someone will have it, but it's not probable. The alternative thing to try is to get any numbers/letter off the diode itself, and the manufacturer, then try to look it up in an electronics parts guide, or hopefully online. Sometimes you have to unsolder the diode to get the markings, but since you sound like you're going to replace it anyway, you might as well see what you can see. You might try contacting Thermaltake to see if they would supply the information, but it would probably be fruitless to do so, since they usually opt for people to buy new units. Sirtech is the manufacturer, I read on one web blog, but I couldn't find any contact information for them. Good luck, hope this helps.

Can't access bios; win vista won't load.

To get to the Bios you need to press the F2 button during the Fujitsu Splash screen.

If all you get is beeping, then it sounds like a bad keyboard on your laptop (could be a stuck key). If an external keyboard does the same thing. I would reset the cmos (unfortunately the laptops have their cmos sodered on, theres youtube videos on how to do it for laptops)

Blank screen (but some light) on Sharp LC42SB48UT LCD TV

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

I just got a new power supply installed in my Fujitsu 50in. Plasma P50XHA4OUS and cannot get the sound to work, we've tried everything, please HELP!

Assuming the power supply is exact replacement and you did not have this before--check the speakers to make sure not turned off.

If using a cable or sat box make sure sound not way down or off both with the set and the box.

Last but not least if sound is there with a DVD---something somewhere is set to wrong position.

Hi Alfred Grace,

First of all, thank you for posting your question here at Fixya.

Based on the symptoms you've described, I don't believe that the backlights are already faulty. If backlights gone to malfunction, that are permanent, but in your case you've said that the TV power up fine for half an hour, this is an indication that the fault not came from the backlights but from the inverter boards. Inverter boards are the one giving high voltage to the backlight to light up, it has a built in protection circuit that will activate once there's a malfunction on the board to avoid further damaged because of high voltage output.
If you would like to fix it yourself, I would advice you to replace both the slave and master inverter board. I saw your board at shopjimmy.com. Click it HERE for the replacement. Replacing these boards are not technical, all you have to do is to unplug the unit overnight to drain any voltages from the power supply board, disconnect all connectors and then put-in the new boards. No soldering required. If just in case that the inverter boards are not the issue (I'm pretty confident that the power supply board is working fine), don't worry, the link I've provided accepted return, the fault is on the power supply board.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Good luck and take care!

I own a Sharp Aquos LCD model LC46D43U. It's 3 1/2 years old. When I turned on the TV, the power does not come on. It clicks like it's trying to power up and repeats itself 4 or 5 times every 4 - 5...

there is a problem with the power supply. most likely too much ripple that is ac leaking into the dc. I have seen the power supply repaired but it is not always possible. If there is an obvious swelled capacitor on the power supply that can be replaced this will be the best bet for repair. If there is nothing visually obvious then it gets a little harder since you won't really know which component is not working, the tv shuts down on a protection circuit so if the power supply can be repaired and the voltage "cleaned up" then the tv could work again. I have also seen replacement power supplys sold.

Processor fan is very noisy from start up to all the time I am on line.

Hi,

Good day , you may need to power-off her PC, open it up, and give it a good cleaning with a vacuum cleaner. If possible, after you've got her PC open, and before you clean it, turn it back on so you can figure out which fan is causing the noise problem (many PCs have more than one fan). If it's the CPU fan, then you're going to want someone who is comfortable and experienced with removing it and replacing it with a new one, because it is EXTREMELY important to get 100% physical contact between the CPU chip itself and the cooling fan/housing that is attached to it, or the CPU is going to overheat and destroy itself within seconds of being turned back on. If the noise turns out to be from a normal case cooling fan (3-5 inches across), you can try cleaning it really well to remove any dust, and see if that fixes the problem. If not, you can buy a replacement fan of the appropriate size at pretty much any PC store for $5-$20. It takes 5-10 minutes to unscrew the old fan and install the new one, and just use the same electric wire from the old fan for the new fan.
If the noise turns out to be from the computer's power supply, you cannot repair it, so it needs to be replaced. I would recommend either replacing it yourself, or having someone who has done it before replace it for you. There's usually only 4 screws that hold the entire power supply box in the case, and then you also have to unplug the power cords that go from the power supply to the hard drives, floppy drive, CD drive, other internal peripherals, motherboard, and fans. Carefully remove the entire power supply box from the PC case, being careful to not scrape it or bang it against any of the memory cards or other internal components. Take the noisy power supply with you to a discount computer store and find a new power supply that's the same physical size and at least as many watts as the current one (usually 350-500 watts). If you go with a generic power supply, it will probably cost around $30. If you go with a name brand, high-wattage power supply, it can cost $100 or more. Hope this information help you in resolving your issue. Have a great day.

Viewsonic VX922 monitor no power

I had the same problem with my VX924. The two 470uFx25V was blown, and the output diode was in short circuit. I also noticed that the 33R SMD resistor (to pin 6 of SMD IC) was opened. After replaced these parts, the monitor works great.
