Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console
The power cable light is orange for my sons xbox 360 and the console wont turn on and the light is supposed to be green i have tried another power cable but the same happens
Try checking the usb is it damaged? the pins in the usb may be shorted to ground..pry any pins up and the system will work..this happened to me.

USB pins are shorted to ground came to this site yesterday and fixed it this morning. If you have a volt/ohm meter check ohm readings between the metal frame and the pins of the usb out of four pins ONE should be a low ohm reading the other three should be infinity. The one that should be low ohm is on an end.

Hmm sounds similar to me. I saw a post stating that usb port where the controllers are connected were shorting out to ground. So I took my 360 apart and sure enough the pins were shorted to ground. A good thing to check is the orange light on the power brick. If before you plug it into the back of the 360 its a steady orange light and then you plug it into the console it blinks (pay attention) its a good possibitility that it is shorting out somewhere in the console. If you have a mulitmeter you can check the back of the power plug input to ground or the controller usb to ground. Even though I found that this was my problem with my xbox unfortunately for me my board was also fried. From now on Im going to collect xbox's that are broken and use them to fix my new xbox when it breaks(im sure it will) because microsoft enjoys putting out an infererior piece of ****. I'll be dam*** if ill pay anyone a penny and wait half a year to get a repaired (but still broken) xbox back, when I know Ill be able to fix my own. Maybe Ill open up my own 360 repair shop just to show microsoft how. customer service should be handled. Anyway hope that helps and you have better luck then I did.

No the light is supposed to be orange because mine is and it works just fine but maybe your not pushing the cable in hard enough
