Question about Sharp R-1500 Microwave Oven

Sharp r1500 microwaive

Everything on the oven works except the oven. I was boiling water and had the exhaust fan on, went to pop some pop corn and after starting the oven there were a couple loud pops and it was not the corn. Since then the oven is not heating and sounds as if it is straining when we try. All the lights controls, fans and such work. is this repairable? The warranty said the magnatron tube is covered for 7 years. could that be the problem? either way is it worth having repair come out?

Sine you heard a pop. I would suspect the high-voltage rectifier diode.

But it could be the magnetron, possibly grease got past the waveguide cover and caused some arcing.

You can usually save about $50 or so on service by pulling it down form the wall and taking it in for repair service.

Indeed, sounds like the magnetron is shot. Not a big deal, I've replaced them before. But unless you know what your doing, don't! If under warranty, get a service tech out. Check on the service call charge ($) may be cheaper to buy a new micro!

A Microwave Oven works by heating water/moisture in food: if the boiling action (e.g. when boiling water) is greater than the oven exhaust fan can cope with, then the inside will steam up and fog the door glass: this is usually OK and 'normal' (this is actual the advise in cleaning up the interior of a microwave oven - steamy soapy water - see your manual).

Hope it helps.

My Sharp carousal microwave model R 1482 goes on and off on its own. When cooking the steam from boiling water will set the micro off like I am pushing buttons on it.

If it's just the hood vent exhaust fan coming on, that's normal due to a temperature sensor (the hood vent exhaust TCO / thermostat).

If other functions on the microwave are coming on, then the keypad and / or controls may be shorting due to moisture and / or heat, and that needs to be addressed.

You should always run the microwave oven's hood vent exhaust fan whenever you're cooking on the stove top.

If you do, and the trouble persists, I would suspect the controls.

The microwave quit working. I could still use the timer and the fan. After a year, I had a pot of water boiling on the right back burner of my cook top and the microwave exhaust fan came on. I could not...

I think a bad connection in a lucar styl plug is the problem.
Check all of the connectors that come from the switch/control pannel and the magnetron's transformer.
Make certain that it is not still charged up at a lot of voltage in the capacitor is lethal!!!!

Microwave popped and now does not heat

Okay, first we need to separate the situations. You were boiling water on the stove and had the range hood fan running to **** up the steam. Then you put something in the microwave to heat and you heard a pop and then zip-o.

The water on the stove has nothing to do with the situation, the fan you turn on is not part of the microwave, so it has nothing to do with the microwave.

The pop you heard and then the humming suggests the magnetron failed. You said you found a blow fuse and replaced it and still nothing, right? The magnetron is the most likely culprit...I would think it is safe to say that the magnetron shorted and drew enough current to blow the fuse.

Replace the magnetron and if that doesn't work, let me know here. Good Luck!

Crackling and popping sounds when you heat up food

thats normal water expanding and boiling off from the microwave boiling those tiny water pockets in food... sounds like popcorn sometimes.
Cover your food with a paper towel to avoid spatter on the ceiling of the microwave when this is happening.

Whenever anyone uses the stovetop to boil water, the steam seems to affect the microwave and causes it to turn on by itself and the panel buttons will not work

did it come with the exhaust fan under it? if so just turn it on when boiling water if it didn't try to find one that goes with the unit and hve it installed, this is theonly way to fix the problem

Microwave turntable won't turn

Most likely the turntable motor itself is bad - not an uncommon problem for that model.

Check with (toll free 1-877-894-0035)

unfortunately, the particular motor used in your model is rather expensive - + - $50
