appears, please enter “admin” for the
username to access the configuration screen.
(Note: By default, there is no password. If
you cannot get in, please reset the router by
pressing the button next to the antenna on the

Problem with D-Link 1360 n access point. Not able to visit ip address 192.168.0.50

The internal Wi-Fi radio is enabled by default on most new wireless routers.
However, if you purchased a D-Link router used, you may find that the internal radio is disabled because the previous owner had an exclusively wired network and wanted to eliminate the possibility of a hacker breaking into one of her computers.

Enable the Wi-Fi radio on your D-Link router to enable your computers to connect to the Internet wirelessly.

Connect the router to your computer using an Ethernet cable.
Open a web browser and browse the IP address "192.168.0.1."

Enter the username "admin" and leave the password blank.
Note that these are default values; both the user name and password can be changed.

Click the "Setup" tab at the top of the screen, then click the "Wireless Settings"
Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click the "Manual Wireless Network Setup" button.

Place a check in the box labeled "Enable Wireless" and click "Save Settings."
Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll to network adapters should see a yellow question ? exclamationmark! or a red Xright click install drivers.

The driver might be on the disc supplied by your ISP internet service provider

D-Link Wireless Router

D-Link routers use the connection from your Internet service provider to create a wireless network for the various Wi-Fi- enabled devices in your home or office.

Once the router is installed, you can truly enjoy the portable capabilities of your laptop or other wireless device.

D-Link routers have a straightforward installation process, despite the advanced technology behind wireless equipment. So there is no reason to wait around for a technician to help you install your wireless equipment. Remove the cable that is attached to the "Internet" port on the rear of your DSL or cable modem.

Plug the Ethernet cable into the "Internet" port on the modem and plug the other end of the cable into the "Internet" port on the rear of the D-Link router. Attach the power adapter to the port on the rear of the router and plug the adapter's cord into a outlet.

Remove the power cord from your modem and wait 10 seconds before plugging it back in.
This will reinitialize your modem and force it to establish a connection to the D-Link router.

Your router will immediately begin distributing a wireless network with the "D-Link" network name.

Connect your computer to one of Ethernet ports on the rear of the router and open a Web browser.

Type "http://192.168.0.1" into the address bar and press "Enter." Enter "admin" into the username field and type "admin" again into the password field.

Click "OK" to open the wireless configuration page. Click "Wireless Security Setup Wizard" to create a wireless password for your router's network.

Click "Apply" to save the changes to the router's settings.
Network D-Link wireless

Type the router IP address, "192.168.0.1", into your Internet browser. Press "Enter" on your keyboard.

Enter your username and password to log into the D-link configuration panel.
By default, the username is "Admin" with a blank password field.

To prevent outsiders from being able to access your D-link router's configuration panel, change the username and password to something more secure.

This can be done by selecting "Tools" from the menu and selecting "Admin."
Select "Administration Settings" and enter your new username and password.

Save your changes by clicking "Apply."
Enter the IP addresses for the computers you want to give access to your router.

You can do this by clicking the "DHCP" link underneath the "Home" tab.
Click "Apply" to save the IP addresses.

Select the "Wireless" link underneath the "Home" tab.
Enter a name in the "SSID" field to identify your wireless network.

Choose "WPA" for your "Security" option.
WPA will provide the highest level of security for your wireless network.

Create a WPA password to access your wireless network.
For maximum security, enter a combination of numbers, letters, and symbols.

Store your password in a safe place in case you ever forget it.
Click "Apply" to save your settings.

Install a software firewall program on your computer to add an additional measure of security for your wireless network.

A few of the popular firewall programs available are Norton Antivirus, McAfee and Zone Alarm.

Configuring Netgear Wireless Routers/Access Points

What do you need to know about configuring routers?
All basic router configuration are almost the same. You can access the router by a specific address. In this case, for NETGEAR router, the default address is 192.168.1.1.

You can access the router configuration page by typing 192.168.1.1 on the address bar of any browsers.
It will then ask for the User name and Password. The
Default UserName is : admin
Default Password : password

Most of the people just want to configure their wireless network and what is the wireless key.
You can check the wireless setting of the router. You will then see the wireless network name or the SSID. You can definitely change that to the wireless network key that you wish to use.
You can also change the wireless key which is your wireless security. There are several types of wireless security. We have WEP, WPA-PSK, WPA-PSK2.

Usually, WEP and WPA wireless encryption are used. For WEP, you can use 10 digits numbers from 0-9 and for WPA-PSK, you can use alpha numeric characters.

It's up to you what to use. You can easily change the wireless key by entering it on the Key1 under the Security Encryption. Just hit apply and you can now use the new wireless network name and key that you just setup..

One tip of advise, don't be afraid to change the settings of the router. Just remember the current settings if you are not that familiar before changing anything. If that doesn't work, just revert the changes. I'm sure, you'll get comfortable on configuring any router in a short time..

Happy configuring.. :)

Hi,
First try with the default setting for your router.
Default IP Address :- 192.168.0.50
Default admin username :- admin
Default admin password : Don't enter anything keep it blank.

If this will not work then you have to reset your router.

Thanks for using FixYa.

How do I reset WAP4410N router back to factory defaults ?

There should be a reset button to the right (the back facing you) of the antennas on the back, press that for 10 seconds to restore back to factory default. You may also go into the the web based control panel of the router and set it back to default.

How do i make my wireless network secure

Hi,

Go to your wired computer, and type in "192.168.0.1" (without the quotes) and then enter your username and password. If you've never set up a username and password for this router before, the default should be:

Username: "admin" or leave it blank...not sure which one it should be.
Password: "password"

Next, you need to navigate to your wireless section, which should be there on the opening page on the left hand side. You can then enable WPA, and enter a password. This password will have to be known by all computers that connect to your router.

Go to your wireless computer, connect to your network. It will now ask for for the network password, enter it, and you're ready to go. Now any computer that wants to connect to your network will have to know this password. And now no one can steal your bandwidth!

Please post your feedback and Vote if the problem resolved as per your satisfaction.

Lost wep passphrase, can't navigate

There are two ways of going at this problem:
  1. Connect your computer to the router using an ethernet cable. Open up your router's configuration settings (the webpage used to setup your router). To do this, open a web browser, and type in your router's IP Address in the browser's address bar (i.e. 192.168.0.1). A window should pop up asking for a username and password. Enter your username, and password (if you haven't set a new password, the default log in is username:admin, password: (blank)), and then you will be brought to the webpage. Once you are here, look for the wireless-security area of the site, and go to it. Under this area, there should be a passkey/passphrase bar. You change it, or just see what it is.
  2. Use a wep passkey recovery software.

Need to find out the password to get onto the speedstream we did not get a password when it was set up for us

You don't mention what model Speedstream you have. Assuming the installer left the default admin password on it, you can refer to http://www.routerpasswords.com to find out what that default password is. For most (but not all) models of Speedstream, the user ID is admin, and the password is admin. If the installer did not leave the default password on it, there's no way to find out what it is short of actually asking him.

Want to change password for LinkSys Wireless Router. Also want to make outgoing information secure.

If you have forgotten the username/password for the router you can reset it by pushing and holding reset button for 15 seconds.

Then following the steps here:
http://www.lucidlink.com/media/docs_autogen/LinksysWRT54G.pdf

The later pages describe how to configure security and change your password.

If you are new to wireless I suggest selecting WEP or WPA-PSK.

How To Make a DMZ

A router normally stops incoming Internet traffic from getting on your network, unless the traffic is in response to one of your computers or when using port forwarding. But instead of discarding the incoming traffic or using port forwarding, you can send incoming traffic to one computer on your network by establishing a "Default DMZ Server". (DMZ = humorous reference to "Demilitarized Zone".) This avoids you having to figure out what ports an Internet application wants ? by throwing all ports open for that computer. For regular network operation, NETGEAR recommends you do not use a DMZ. A computer with DMZ loses firewall protection, and is exposed to exploits from the Internet. If compromised, your own computer can attack the rest your network. Instead of DMZ, use port forwarding, as described in How is Port Forwarding Configured? However, the DMZ server feature is helpful: * When you have a problem connecting to an Internet service. Setting up a DMZ will determine whether a closed port is responsible for the problem. * With some online games and videoconferencing applications that are incompatible with NAT. Follow the procedure under your router model to create a DMZ To Create a DMZ for RP614, MR814, FVS318, FVM318, WGR614 1. Open a Web browser, and type the router's IP address (The router's default IP address is 192.168.0.1). Click Go. 2. Enter the username and password for the router (Default username is admin and password is password). 3. From the browser Main Menu select Advanced > Security. Some routers, such as the MR814, use the WAN Setup Options, page, instead. 4. Enter the server's IP address. 5. Click Apply. To Create a DMZ for FR114P, FR114W, FM114P, FR328S, FVL328 1.
