There is a 7" wide slightly darker stripe going up the left side and when the screen turns white in various situations of shows/games its shows a white grid... What do or can I replace to fix this?
There are so many reasons for this fault. Visit the site named 'Electro-help' for more details. Click this link. View it in "Timeslide" option, which can be selected from the drop down box menu by the [Sidebar] tag, at the top left corner of the display window. It will make search easy. There are more than 1000 posts to different brand TVs now. Pull up older posts there.

if the unit is stll under warrenty it would be best to take it back, it does sound like that it is the lcd that is faulty, or contact Sharp to see if the can repair it for you

The unit has bad drive ic's,which is part of the lcd panel.It is not cheap to fix.

Go to menu and settings and look for OVERSCAN and set this to on and hey presto no more white lines no matter what ratio your in.
