Question about Ace Hardware InSinkErator Badger 5, 1/2 HP Garbage Disposal
I tried to move the disposal from bottom with Allen Wrench, took out all the debry. it makes to noise, blades are moving free, still doesn't work. also i acciendly pressed the reset button little too hard and it went inside, now how do get it out. Please help. thanks.
Ravinder, the reset button is either broken or possibly the nut that holds it in place has fallen off. If that is the case AND you can find the nut, you might be able to pull the switch back through the hole with a pair of tweezers, then put the nut back on. (It is a pretty small nut.) Be sure to disconnect the power before you do this. However, if the reset switch is broken, you will have to disassemble the unit to fix it. And you might have a burnt-out motor anyway.

SOURCE: Garbage disposal won't work!
Check to see if the cutting plate is free and will turn-be careful and be sure no one can turn the unit on while you are trying to turn the cutting plate-it is located in the drain hole that the food goes down. If it is locked up, hardware stores sell a special tool to break it loose. It should not be too expensive. If the blade is free, the motor is probably burned out.

It is most likely plugged up there is a clap with a butterfly bolt that you turn counter clockwise remove the clamp and have a trash can under it and wiggle it to remove the lower half of the disposal, when it comes off dump it out and clean with fresh water. Then with hands free of the pump turn the disposal back on, it if still hums the motor is bad and you will have to replace..

its stuck, is it still under warranty. either the motor is bad or something is jammed in there. you need to turn the blades by hand or allen , if nothing, then the motor is somehow bad, need to replace.

If the blades move freely with the wrench and stick and motor hums then it sounds like it is time to replace the unit. Have you tried the reset switch? If it is humming than it is probably not tripped but worth a try. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Garbage dispoal not working.
You need a new disposal.
Free-rotating blades show there is no obstruction.
Humming says you have power.
Frozen allen wrench says bearings are rusted.
Motor is now overheating each timer electricity is turned on, and motor will overheat and stop humming.
At least the drain is clean and water is not flooding under the sink, which means you can continue using sink until disposal is replaced.
