Question about Behringer ULTRAGAIN PRO MIC2200 2 Channel Tube Mic Preamp Microphone

Open Question

My preamp goes to clip mode on power up

At first, it works fine. Then suddenly the signal meter light climbs to full and then the clip indicator lights stay lit on both channels. At that point, there is total loss of any output signal?

SOURCE: Behringer EP2500 no output on CHANNEL 1

check all op amps for correct voltage swing +-should be equal, test output of op amps no voltage should be present, use chasis gnd as tester neg.check voltage regulation especially 12v or 15v +-.note some amps show unequal led indications when only 1 channel connected to a load.I will try to get some more info on this specific amp because i don't know this circuit well, keep in touch as you update though.

SOURCE: Channel 2 Distorted/Clip light comes on

It sounds like the final amplification section is OK now. I'd be looking for a noisy transistor or transistor pair at the "front end" of the unit. There may also be a shorted coupling cap between the stages. If you can Email me the schematics, I can provide more details.

SOURCE: Low output on LH channel

This sounds like the output section has failed Open rather thans Shorted. You are essentially driving the speakers with the "driver" section rather than the final output stage. This unit will require benchtime to trace the problem and fix it. This is not a problem that can be completely diagnosed remotely. Where are you located?

SOURCE: The FX portion of the board is clipping with no

There are several clipping indicators on this board. Do you mean that the small vertical display to the left of the FX selection window is maxed out from top to bottom? I will assume that you have ALL the FX inout knobs CCW for all channels AND the FX slider all the way down. Also does the FX selection knob work to change the effect number? Does the rest of the board work? WILL the effects pass sound when you send it through the effects? You say no sound, but was that just to say with no sound sent to it it still is clipping, or that it will not pass sound?

I have an old Peavey Transfex Pro 212s that spent several years in storage. It's had the battery-less modification. The unit powers on fine but will not output sound past the preamp.

I am thinking what if the power amp has a separate power supply to the pre-amp. If it does then something in that is causing the problem. If it doesn't then it's something on the power amp board. Perhaps a voltage regulator. If the power amp is a single IC job replace it. Another possible cause is if the volume control is done via a single IC. If that has gone it would cause the strange things that are happening. One thing is certain it's something that both channels pass through the device that is faulty or it effects both channels.

How do I get a signal from my Jack OA8200 digital tv antenna.

The signal meter should show you available TV transmitters. If you have received a signal at this location before and you definitely are sure it is powered up the antenna is defective. Check for anything that appears loose or broken. If the meter indicates a signal check the cable that goes to the TV.

Kenwood TS-820 Receive Help

One of the RF gains stages is not working, or there's a self-oscillation in the receiver. I'm afraid it needs to go to a Kenwood shop or their service center.

I have a vintage Sansui qrx5500, everything lights up, the meters show that the preamp is processing a signal but there is no sound, not even through headphones

The problem is something to do with the power amp board. You need to determine if it is going power to it, from the power supply section. If it is it would indicate the main power amp has gone. Does it have an IC power amp? If it does then it's gone! Otherwise I am puzzzelled why both channels are down on a device with two seperate transistors stages.

I get no sound from my nad t175 preamp connected to a nad t973 (7 ch.) regardless of the media - rca, hdmi, et al. The fuse in the amp is fine, all the lights are working. Regarding the t175 i can see...

Possible that the amplifier has tripped and so gone to a protection mode. Remove power for few hours, press down all panel switches to drain off voltage from the processor. Also check for any short on the speakers before it is powered on.

My amps stays in the clip mode where as the light on the two channel stays red

CLIP: red, to the left of each Gain control.

Normal indication: illuminates whenever the amplifier is driven beyond full power. The LED's brightness indicates the amount of distortion. Distortion that causes only brief flashing may not be audible.

During muting, the indicator fully illuminates. This occurs during normal "On-Off" muting.

Abnormal indication:

•Bright red illumination while the amp is being used indicates either thermal muting or a shorted output.

•If the amplifier overheats, the fan will run at full speed, and operation should resume within one minute. Allow the fan to run, and make sure the amplifier ventilation is adequate.

•A shorted or overloaded output circuit will cause excessive Clip flashing and possible overheating.

•If distortion is audible without a Clip indication, the problem is either before or after the amplifier. Check for damaged speakers or overloaded signal source. The amplifier Gain control should be in the upper half of its range to prevent input overload.

Both fuses burnt and both clip and signal led on? seems to have full power behringer ep2500

Suspect an overload in either the power supply section or the devices on the main heat sink. In the power supply you are either looking at a transformer problem or semi-conductors associated with it. However since the clip and signal lights are on, I would go to the amp devices on the heat sink. If they are transistors test them with a Ohm Meter on the 1K setting in circuit even! You will soon notice which ones are gone! The meter will show like you had touch the test probes together!
