This is often because what you are printing in overrides the settings and prints in the default portrait. Before you print go into the print settings of what ever program you are using and set that portrait. This should resolve the issue.

When you press File Print, the dialogue box will show Properties or Preferences. Click Properties/Preferencies and on one of the tabs, you will see 'Paper', or similar. One of the options will be portrait of landscape.

You can also bring up the Print dialogue box by pressing CTRL+P.

most printers do not have an automatic preference but a requirement to set it prior to printing
at the print stage go to properties , select the landscape or portrait button and apply
that makes it a default setting for all future printing

Printer almost always refuses to print Landscape from Excel. It prints Landscape or Portrait from other software, but balks with Excel in Landscape. It prints a portion (the information at the left) in...

Try printing to a different printer if possible. This may shed some light on whether the problem is with the printer or with Excel. You could also open the file on a completely different PC and printer to see if something is corrupt in the file. Also try creating a completely new document to see if it will print in landscape. Can you print in landscape orientation from MS Word or another program?

Print command sent from scale indicator

Change driver setting from portrait to landscape in properties/printing preferences/options page and apply setting. Verify by printing a test page. If test page prints correctly and your application still prints in portrait mode you will have to find equinalent settings page within the application

My HP PSC 1200 printer has started printing all landscape documents as portraits and visa versa. Reinstalling has not helped.

goto the control panel-->printers and faxes and do a right click on the printer goto printing preferences and change the settings as per your need
there is also a check box for showing the preview before printing, check that ,now everytime you want to print something it will show you a preview in advance for how the print out's gonna look like
you can change the settings as portrait or landscape by going to printing preferences.
hope this helps

PDF files only print in landscape

Found it! The problem was that Adobe was set to print with page scaling set to Tile. Even though you see the preview as portrait (with page setup AND printer setup also in portrait), for Tile, it prints in landscape.
User said this fixed it.

I need to flip my text to print on a transfer for a t-shirt

You want to flip the text? Do you mean you want the text to display 90 degrees from normal portrait mode into landscape?

If so, when you select a document to print a window should pop up with options to select number of copies, etc. Take note of a pull down menu with portrait, and landscape options.

Use landscape to print your job with the text in this mode.

If you want this set as the default option you can set this in your print settings in the computer.
Open your printer settings in control panel, (assuming you use windows) select the printer with right click, and choose properties. There should be an item labelled document preferences. In this you can select a between Portrait and landscape. Hope this helps.
