If this is an older furnace, it is probably a wearing fan control.
Some can be adjusted, otherwise they need to be replaced.

Do I need a outside cooling unit for a Coleman 7900 Presidential lll gas heat and cooling unit

Yeah, youd have to look at the model on the Indoor coil box, furnace will be setting on top of it. Youll need the model off that coil box to get the correct tonnage of the outdoor condensing unit, you can go 1/2 ton smaller on outdoor for greater efficiency.

Coleman Presidential Furnace 6806A842 heat switch pops then cool air

Make sure all vents are open and filters are clean. Likely an air flow issue but possibly, though unlikely, both switches are bad.

Coleman evcon furnace

Sounds like it isn't getting a call for heat. If you have a digital thermostat it could be the problem. I have seen them look like they are working but burn out. A simple way to check is take the stat off the wall. There is 2 wires. It's low voltage so don't worry about shock. Touch and hold them together. If it fires up change the t stat. On a . 2 wire it makes no difference which goes to W or R

I have a Coleman/Evcon Presidential ser# 074878. The plumber says the Heat exchanger is cracked. Is this something I can fix myself or is it less expenxive to buy a new furnace?

The heat exchanger is a bear to change. depending on the age of the unit it might be more practical to replace the unit. However unless you trust this service tech I'd get a second opinion, because it is rare that a heat exchanger will crack, plus by law he or she should have shut the furnace down do to carbonminoxde. Especially rare in Coleman Evcon series units.
