Dane-elec usb portable memory stick - right protect error

I just bought a dane-elec usb portable memory stick and transfered some files to it, went to transfer them to another computer, then wanted to save some more files to it and up pops a message saying it is write protected, and to remove write protection.
I did not use the "safely remove hardware" option on my computer because I didn't know about it and there is no warning to do so on the package that the USB stick came in.
How can I fix this so I can use it again?

How do I remove write protection from Dane USB memory? Everytime I try to add or delete files to the stick, it states that the file is write protected and to take it off. I don't see an option for that....

click start click to open on my computer you should see your usb drive E: right click select properties there will be an array of options select the sharing tab option then advanced sharing make sure you have a tick in the share this folder box then click permissions make sure you have all 3 boxes ticked full control changes and read in windows 7

click start control panel user accounts click on the administrators account if you have made one or you will have to create one in windows XP

click start right click on my computer select open
Right click the icon of your usb drive (It should be E:/ or something)
Click Properties in the menu that comes up
Click the Sharing tab
Click permissions
And finally, click Allow next to Full Control.

hope this helps you

Is Zane-Elec 4GB USB portable memory (memory stick)compatible with Windows 98/98SE? Is a special Driver required? If so, where can I get it? Thank you, Bob

If it was engineered specifically for USB 2.0, it may not work at all, then again, it may work, just more slowly. Plug 'er in and see, shouldn't be able to hurt anything.

Hi, my dane-elec showing write protected. How can I solve it? I tried http://www.fixya.com/support/t345484-format_write_protect_usb_drive file but did not work. Need help. Thanks, Zia

Click > Start > Run > type "CMD" Then
Type "CHKDSK" and type the letter of your SD drive and "/F".
chkdsk Q: /F > press Enter

another example:
chkdsk D: /f
chkdsk E: /f
D or E is the letter or your SD drive.

Well maybe it's full... check.. Maybe it's "Protected" in some way... maybe it needs to be "Shared" in permissions.. otherwise maybe it has gone kaput... hope not.. GL

Write protected memory card..sd card

There should be a little switch on your memory card reader, if it is facing down, your card is locked. Push it up and then you should be ready to go. :)
