Question about Samsung LE40R72BDX 40 in. HD-Ready LCD Television
I cannot activate the PiP function on my new 40" samsung lcd. I have a sky+ box & DVD connected but it isn't allowing me to select PiP.
What am I missing?

sounds like it needs a re set
you need to press the following: (do not hesitate between presses)
when the tv comes back on follow original installation set up

Resetting the TV
If the buttons on the remote AND the buttons on the TV case do not work (channels do not change and you cannot open or navigate the menu), the TV has stopped responding. Reset the TV as follows:
Some TVs have a reset button. If available and accessible, try using the reset buttons before using the steps below. Using the reset buttons can save time.
1. Unplug the TV power cord from the power outlet.
2. Unplug any connected devices (DVD, Set-top boxes, etc...)
3. Press and hold the TV power button for five seconds.
4. Plug the TV power cord back into the power outlet and turn on the TV.
5. Open the on-screen menu to confirm that the TV is responding again.
6. Turn off the TV and reconnect the devices.
7. Turn on the TV.

you will need the following = HDMI LEAD
Optical Audio Lead
Red and White phono Lead
Sky HD Box > connect to Tv via HDMI Lead.
Sky HD box > Connect the optical Audio, and the Phono Leads To your Surrounds sound.
The reason I am wanting you to connect the phono's as well as the optical audio out. Not all programs are transmitted with Dolby D so you will need these for normal sound to come through your surround sound.
One last thing I would like you to check is the sound settings on your Hd box.
OLD PROGRAM GUIDE:
On your sky remote. Press SERVICES, 4, 2, then ensure that Dolby D is displayed if not highlight and using the blue button change this to Dolby D. then arrow down to save.
NEW PROGRAM GUIDE:
On your sky remote. Press SERVICES, 0, Arrow along to SOUND then arrow down and change this to DOLBY D Then press the GREEN button.

Dude, better check your cable and also your TV's power management settings. This might also happen due a issue with the HDMI output of the satellite box.

There's nothing that you have missed. your port is bad. Since your TV is still under warranty if you open it up the company will cancel its warranty, so my advice would be to get their service technicians to have a look at it.
