Your TV need a through check-up. Contact any service technician. Burning smell should be due to any short circuited component/s; either its main power regulator section circuit, or, horizontal output section circuit. This is not a user repairable fault, need some practical experience to do repair work. To get some details, http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Pull up older posts

Check the settings on receiver in the SETUP menu / HDMI / Audio. Here you can choose Amp (sound goes from the speakers connected to receiver), TV (receiver is muted and sound is routed via HDMI to TV) and Amp+TV (sound goes from speakers and also to TV).
Also check in OPTION menu / Signal Info that receiver is receiving sound in recognized format.

TV was working just fine.. no issues at all.. turned TV on.. and got a click click click sound... no picture, no sound (other than click) smelled like something was hot. TV is about 7 years old. TIA.....

It sounds like it is time for a new TV, unfortunately. Nowadays you can get a new one for about the same as your repair costs would be. If you smell something burning you probably smoked a circuit board.

No sound from tv through unit

You may have to enter TV menu and see if you have a AUDIO setup option, some TV`s you have to enable TV AUDIO OUTPUT, this cancels the built in tv speakers and engages the AUDIO OUTPUT jacks on the TV

I accidentally made the wrong connection with my GE Theater system. I put the wrong speaker cord in the jack +/- and think I burned out something. Now I recieve only a picture but no sound.

plugging a line level audio into a composite video output should not damage anything, but you should hear static. Double check your wiring with the manual. The problem is probably in the setup menu.

T.V. TURNS OFF

Sounds like somethings over heating if you smell something. The wise thing to do if you know nothing at all about the tv repair is to call someone unless you feel convident enough to open it and look around very carefully and see if you can describe whats over heating or burning as if you keep turning on the set and it keeps smelling it will burn something out thats not burned out now.
