OK, I spoke to Pioneer tech support and they had me go to destination>settings>connection status. If the parking brake shows "off", many of the functions will not work as a safety measure. I guess this is their version of interlock. I think it can be defeated with a wire-around, but thats what they say the problem is.

SOURCE: Pioneer AVIC-F900BT settings menu and Navi setting

Hi

I sent just yesterday mail of similar problem. But after some time in internet, I found a tip, which helped me to solve the problem. The only thing to do is just ground the light green wire. If You have joined the wire to handbrake, You have to have Your handbrake on. Actually the manual says something like "some functions are not available", when the instructions to these wires are given. After this mine F900BT is working great!

SOURCE: RADIO CUTS OFF WHEN VOLUME IS TURNED UP

It could be your wiring as well. Sometimes, when speaker wire gets cut and grounded, like your factory wiring to your door speakers or you tap into facrotry speaker wires to add more, the load on your deck increases. When the volume gets to a certain level, it will cut off because of the heat produced to maintain the load.

The unit will not play radio or cd.

Hi there dboy,

As a rule, Pioneer stereos are aftermarket installs. Any other equipment installed with it?

For example, do you have amplifiers in the trunk powering your system? If so, a malfunction there would explain things.

If not, we start with the easiest first.
  • Press the A button (Audio Adjust). This cycles through the various adjustments you can perform.
  • Make sure Balance and Fader are centered.
  • Volume is up above 10 or so.
  • And of course, Mute is off.
  • Press the F button to cycle through functions again. Any difference?
If there is an ATT (Attenuator) on your model press it. This is another form of mute (why don't they just call it Mute?).

If there is no change, make note of any digits, characters or symbols appearing on the face. I don't need the obvious items like station or CD Track. It's the non intuitive items. (what's that squiggle there mean?)

I know you've done this already, but ask the prime suspect again if he did anything, however innocent, just prior to the meltdown.

I'm pretty sure this is an Auto Equalize option on your model, I just can't swear to it though.

Ask if the term 'Auto Equalize' rings any bells. If he shows any recognition, come right back with, 'Did you do it without the microphone'? If he cracks under the pressure, let me know. The EQ settings may be way high (off the wall high) and the system is protecting itself by not making any noise.

Comment me back with your findings and a bit more about the configuration. We may need to go a few rounds before we end the sounds of silence

Mike.

Connection of Amp to Equaliser

Thanks guys, but i solved my problem, i experimented and decided that i would run my DVD player (Aux Out) as a CD player through the Equaliser in [Rec] and from equaliser out [Play] i went into Tape Play on Amp, then i connected my Turntable CD Radio System to the Tape 1 Rec on Equaliser and then from Tape 1 Play on Equaliser went into the Tape 2 on AMP then i could use Aux in on Amp to connect my Laptop via my laptops headphone socket my laptop has an equaliser so i didn't need to connect to pioneer EQ, i also connected a small 5.1 to the DVD's 5.1 and connected 4 *45w Speakers to the AMP. and i can say it was FANTASTIC i couldn't get to 5 on my volume it was un @$#%believable.
