Monitor will not work

I have a dell e156fpb monitor that a friend gave me. I plugged the monitor up and turned on my computer but the monitor did not come on. I am running Windows XP. I went to dell and downloaded the drivers. But my computer is not seeing the monitor. The drivers do not just install. I have the monitor connected with a cable that i had for an older monitor. If I turn the monitor off and back on It will show the screen for a second and shut off. Help. My name is Jimmy my e-mail address is [email protected].

Your model number indicates the LCD is made by BenQ. This model is known for poor solder connection causing the inverter driver transistors to short, resulting in immediate shutdown if the inverter circuit. Disassembly and testing the transistors is the only solution I know.

Why thin pink line on the monitor display

Here's some tricks I would try...
1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor.
2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor.
3. Verify that you have turned the monitor power switch on.
4. If the power light on the monitor is not on, test the wall outlet (plug in a light or something you know works).
5. If the power light on the monitor is not on, try a different power cord.
6. If the power light is on and yellow or orange or flashing, but nothing displays, or the display is incorrect, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor probably needs replaced.
7. Also, you could try your display on a friend's computer. If it doesn't work, your monitor probably needs replaced. If it works properly on your friends computer, the problem may be with your computers video output port, motherboard video chip (or video card, if you have one), or drivers.
8. If the same pink line shows when you hook it to another computer, it's a problem with the monitor.

The monitor is a Dell? UltaSharp 2007WFP 20.1 Inch Flat Panel Monitor. I Tried everything. different power cables, DVI cables, VGA cables, disconnecting everything and reconnecting. NOTHING WORKS. I even...

Not sure if this is your problem, but I have seen this with another Dell monitor on three separate occasions. The solution I found was to turn off at the wall power socket, unplug at the wall socket, plug back in, turn on at socket etc and everything was fine. Guess something hangs up somewhere.

Dell monitor E156FPb went black

If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed DELL monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

My hppavilion f1503 flat panel lcd monitor screen stay blank

The monitor should be plug and play, and you've already figured out that it's not your computer by plugging into a working monitor.

This is most likely the power inverter board in the monitor - this is common in many monitors. If the power light is blinking on-and-off, or just staying on with no image, that's the problem. There is a slight chance that it could be the light itself, but inverters fail more commonly.

If it's under warranty, send it back, if not, there are inverter boards for many common models of LCD monitors that are replaceable. The board can run anywhere from $50 on up. Depending on how old it is, you may find it better to just replace it with a gently used one from ebay.

Monitor not working after adding drivers

1. turn off your computer
2. turn off your monitor
3. Unhook the power and video cable from both
4. Reseat them both on both ends.
5. Turn on your monitor
6. Turn on your computer

If its still doesnt work after all 6 steps, your monitor is bad, sorry.

Monitor

The monitor signal is commanded by your video card computer. If your computer video card is working properly and the monitor is shutting off the problem probably is related to the monitor power supply or bad monitor. Before to do nothing check your computer with other monitor (any) or check the monitor at other computer.....In this way you will be able to know is the problem is in your monitor or in your computer.

Everything has a yellow tinge.

Have you tried giving it a good tap on the side? Hey its worked before. Have you tried hooking it to another machine to verify "yellow." Was it yellow on your friends computer? How old is the monitor? Good Luck, Tim
