Question about Murray Garden
I,m thinking it might be valve related by the popping back when i put a new main jet in there is a tiny black oring that i couldnt see where it was supposed to go btw the engine model # is 282h07-0196-e1
Besides the missing o-ring from the carb which is probably important. The words 'popping out the intake' made me think 'flywheel key'.

a couple other checks would be to dump the carb resevoir where the float is, water under the float could be accumulated and closing the fuel off, due to density. out here on the farm we never use the gas to the last drop from the can. also the linkage between the motor fan blade, (govenor) might have been connected to the carb incorrectly. or a bad switch interlock on the mower blade.
some briggs motors are hooked wrong straight from the factory, where the throttle linkage is concerned. ( and the little spring is pretty hokey too)

if your oil level is to high it will do this. i would drain and refill the oil to oem specs slowly as not to overfill so it doesn't blow over the top of the piston.hope this helps

Oh yes they were right !! This happened to my unit last summer, those intake and exhaust have to at least checked every time you tune up so for most that is a seasonal check to keep everything in check. The magnet inside mine got ripped off the inside wall of starter casing. Go to smalleng.com they have a video for this and all you have to do is find out the gap numbers, that local repair shop of yours will be happy to give you those numbers. Now get er done!! Good Luck....
