Try this, Just behind the Left and Right buttons on the mouse, press firmly down on the part where your hand rests and slide to the rear. The batteries are underneath that cover. Hope this helps. Bud

How do I change the batteries on my Staples Wireless Optical Mouse?

On mine, you have to lift the top back section up to reveal a compartment. Insert a thumbnail or letter opener at the point and lift up. It's right below where it says "Staples."

I successfully installed the driver for the Kensington pocket mouse on my S7 notebook, but I cannot activate it to take over the job of the touch pad.

Wireless Installation

Plug in the receiver to your usb port. Install batteries to mouse.

To establish a wireless connection, press the connect

button on the end of the receiver. Then, press the

connect button on the bottom of the mouse.

Click a button on the mouse to go..

Repeat this procedure when replacing the batteries.

IMPORTANT: This wireless device is similar to an FM radio, by

adjusting the antenna you can get better reception. You may

also want to experiment with different locations and positions

of the receiver.

The little light on the receiver should light up and flash fast untill it sees the mouse signal.

Lost driver for my kensington pocket mouse model

Hi mdriskell,

I'm not sure if this will work for you but go to this site: http://us.kensington.com/html/1466.html#mw611 There is a download of "Kensington MouseWorks™ Software Version 6.11" which might be what you need to make your mouse work. If this does not work, I'll see what else I can find for you. According to the site, it does work with Windows Me. Just out of curiosity, why are you still using WinMe?

Good luck,

From pictures, it looks like the top part of that mouse slide down.

Try holding it with the buttons facing toward you, and pushing with your thumbs on the top silver piece of the mouse away from you.

I was having the same problem on Windows 7 and thought it might be a software issue. But then I found an online manual for the Kensington 72214 and got the solution.
You need to make sure to establish a wireless connection between the mouse and the USB receiver by first pressing the connect button on the end of the USB stick and then pressing the connect button on the bottom of the mouse. It is not simultaneous - do step one then two. This also has to be done any time your replace the batteries.
Here is the manual: http://files.acco.com/KENSINGTON/K72214/K72214-4697.pdf

How to install batteries on kensington wireless mouse 72214

Normal 0 If the mouse doesn't have a little door to open on the bottom, then try this.
Just behind the Left and Right keys where your hand rests, apply firm pressure down on the cover and slide to the rear. Some mouse manufactures have used this type of access to replace the batteries.
Hope this helps. Bud

Had nothing to do with the reinstall of XP. Just put in new batteries. Guess it was just a coincidence that the batteries went dead (low) at the time I redid XP.
