You can actually use your PS3 via direct connection through ethernet connection for internet access. Just make sure to go to the configuration screen of your PS3 for automatic connection and refer to manual or call Sony for additional tech support

There is actually a lot of options going about this connection, either via wired or wireless internet connection, but the best way to connect your PS3 with your modem type is the first advise i told you if you have limited budget. But for best results, I would suggest that you invest on a good modem and router in one with complete array of connections for multi-functionality and multiple connectivity to PC at home, either laptop or desktop and other gadgets in the house for optional connections. (Wired, wireless or via USB). The modem/router specifications as well should be taken into consideration if you'll purchase one since this will determine the connection speed or quality of connection for optimal performance together with a very good subscription/connection from your internet provider.

    Thanks and Good Luck! =)

Trouble connecting netgear wireless router to rca modem DCM425

First try connection the Yellow ethernet cable from the rca modem to your computer's network connection. If you get a connection this way, then your modem will work with a ethernet cable. If not, then call Comcast for help. The modem ethernet out to computer port must be connected to the wan line of the router. Then you can connect an ethernet cable from your computer network connection to one of the 4 ports of the router. For wireless connections you must set up the router and wireless adaptor with the same settings to connect. Follow the routers directions.
Good Luck

- If you want to connect 2PC's to your Westell, make sure your Westell router has 1 or more Ethernet ports on it for you to connect your 2PC'sto the Internet simultaneously, if hasn't you may need a desktop switch for it.

Connecting modem via ethernet cable

I'm not an expert in window based units but since it worked with Vista OS and not with XP. Sounds like you might try re-installing XP again. Take note on any windows that refer to the ethernet port during installation. It is likely you might of hit "next" without reading all the text. I know I have in the past. I changed over to mac and I know longer have any problems only at work but give then I give it to the IT Dept and wait and wait and wait.

Connecting another computer

HI,

Im not sure what model of westell you are using but if you say that it has a USB port then it must be a westell 6100. With this type of modem { 3 ports } w/c are USB port , ethernet port and a phone port. Connecting another computer is technically a no-no for that device. It will create a conflict and the other computer wont work at all vice-versa. Youd experience slow connection too.

I would recommend you to just use 1 PC for this device OR you would consider on purchasing a router for that.A router is a separate device where-in you can connect multiple computers. modem --> router ----> computers { wired and wireless}. Routers are more secured and is very efficient when it comes to home networks.

Hope that helps and if you may have additional questions pls feel free to post it in FIxya.

Good Luck .

USB Connection

Hi floinmist .

Westell 6100 modem by default can only be used for 1 PC . It cannot orit is not enabled to use for 2or morer computers as it creates a conflict within. Ethernet connection is the BEST connection for you to use.> your USB is sent to you by you provider { ISP} or by westell packages. Its is only a spare cable just in case your PC doesnt support ethernet connection ,  nothing else.

To resolve this issue you might want to upgrade your modem to a router w/c is westell versalink . You can connect 2 or more computers  { wired or wireless connection } and is more stable compared to your westell 6100.

Connecting 2 computers could cause slow, intermittent and NO connections at all problems.

IF you have other questions pls feel free to ask and let me know if theres anything ii can assist you with .

Best wishes.

Prince

You can only use one or the other.

What you need is another router to plug the Westell one into. I have the same Westell modem and what I did was I plugged it into a wireless modem (since my Wii and Laptop use wireless) but it also has 4 LAN ports in case I need them.
