Question about iRobot Roomba Red 4100 Bagless Robotic Vacuum

Open Question

Roomba Red 4100 goes for 5 seconds then stops

When working....When you turn on the Roomba the battery light will be on green. Then when you click clean it will start cleaning for about 5 seconds then stops. The battery light will be on red and the status light will be blinking also. The only way you can get it to work is taking out the battery and putting it back in. But then it will stop after a while if it gets stuck or something like that sometimes when it hits carpeting it will cause it to stop and when you move it and press cleans it will give you this one beep. When your turn it off and on the same lights will be on and you can't get it to start unless taking out the battery. I clean it many times with an air compressor, cleaned out the brushed, and emptied the bin and cleaned the filter. Any solutions?

SOURCE: roomba red 4100 cleans in small circle stops

When the status light comes on, the Roomba is going to sing "uh-oh," and then beep a number of times. Count the beeps. They're a code that tells you what's wrong with the Roomba. You can check iRobot's website for a chart of beep codes. Search "What is Roomba saying to me?" on the troubleshooting page.

Status light is red, why? I have a Roomba Discovery.

Hi.

If the red light is solid, that means that the Roomba is near to full discharge. If the light is flashing red, then the Roomba is completely out of charge.

If the Roomba is fully charged, then there may be a fault.

Here full list of light codes:

Pulsing Amber - Charging
Green - Fully Charged
Amber - Partially Discharged
Red - Almost Fully Discharged
Flashing Red - Fully Discharged"

Roomba red #4100 needs repair does the circle

sounds like you have two different issues here. (Possibly one common)
Clean out the cliff sensors. Under the bumper. blow it out clean. This might stop the reverse circling. The battery is either bad, or the charging circuit is bad. if battery is know good then the problem is the main board needs to be replaced. a bad battery will kill a main boards charging circuit by over working it with shorted batteries

My roomba mounts up to the charger the light blinks red then after a time it goes green but when I dismount it and push the green button it immediately goes red. It doesn't beep or do anything. It is that...

You have dead nimh (nickle metal hydride) batteries. You will need a replacement. You can test for this by removing the battery and holding the power button for 15 seconds. This will restart the charging cycle as if the battery were new.

New battery. Charged for 24 hours. Light is green, but after 20 seconds light turns red and it stops.

There's a chance that the battery you bought is bad. There's a greater chance that the problem is with the charger. If you're using the dock to charge, try plugging the charger directly into the roomba just to rule that out. If that doesn't fix the problem, I would try borrowing or buying a new charger, and see if that works. If a new charger and new battery don't solve the problem, the problem must be with your roomba itself.

Roomba 4100 lights up when I hit the power and dies

Most likely it is a worn out battery. You can buy a new one for about $70 at iRobot.com or read their help section.

Roomba cuts off after a minute or so.

If you have a 400 series Roomba, try removing the battery, then holding down the power button for ten seconds, then recharging the unit before you run it again.

If you have a 500 series Roomba, don't take out the battery-- just press and hold the "spot" and "dock" buttons for about fifteen seconds. The Roomba will play a tune, and you can then charge it and try running it again later.

Roomba Schedular

Let it charge for a full 24, or even 48 hours, regardless of the green light. If it still dies you probably need a new battery.. or worse.

Same thing happened to me, I called the company, and they told me to remove the battery, press the on button for 5 seconds, which clears the system, replace the battery and do a long charge 12 hours. I'm in the process of doing that now.
