Re: can i format my ipod

If you still have a warranty, save the songs on your computer (if you have enough space on your hard drive) then go to Apple and say something is wrong with it and they'll give you a new one. Good Luck!

Cannot play most music and also indicating invalid file format, open fail, decode error what should i do and can i make it play musics when copied onto de ipod

Most times, people often make the mistake of copying music files direct to the memory of the ipod device.
If you do this, you might be able to detect the songs but your ipod will not play the songs as it may not recognize their format.
For you to copy music files to your ipod, you would need to download the itunes program and install it to your computer.
With this installed, you can connect your ipod to your computer and open itunes. It would be displayed under your itunes program and you can then copy your music files using itunes by dragging them and dropping them on the name of your ipod as it is shown on the left hand side of the itunes program.
If after doing this, you still have the same problem, you can use your itunes to format the ipod and put the songs afresh.
Hope this helps you? Please comment for more information

The itunes doesn't recognize my ipod classic

you restored your ipod correct? (just the music is erased) not format ? (ipod is zapped)....ok..lets play with the restore part...plug up ipod to not open itunes (close it, x it out) ...go to my computer you should see a new drive on it (ipod)....double click ipod and copy the software (from ipod) it should be 4 folders and hidden files too...paste it to a temp folder on the right click ipod drive and format it (yes this will erase everything on it)...once format is completed reinstall the software from the temp folder back to this is finish....update itunes to the newest version (even if u have it already overwrite it) now have a brand new ipod...........

in the beginning i ask if you restored or formatted (if you had formatted, you would not find nor see any software) would be better off asking a friend/family if they have the same ipod can you copy just the software (you would copy their software to a temp file, then on to yours same as above) .........i hope this works out for u.....feel free to rate the help

go to applications then utilities then open disk utility
on the on the left side all the hard drives will be listed. click on your ipod then click erase, look here click "erase" and then "ok". when it is done disconnect the ipod, open itunes and reconnect the ipod. itunes will tell you the ipod is corrupted and i needs to restore it. click ok and then wait for it to complete the restore.

go to start, my computer. in the new window your ipod's name will apear right click then click format. make sure that quic format is checked and then click "ok". when it is done disconnect the ipod, open itunes and reconnect the ipod. itunes will tell you the ipod is corrupted and i needs to restore it. click ok and then wait for it to complete the restore.

note: this might no work but will help in most cases, you hard drive may have just fail and then your out of luck

Ipod video

Maybe your videos aren't in the correct format. Try converting them to .mov (which is the format of quicktime). You can use "Total Video Converter" or any other video converter. Save your videos and then take them to iTunes. Connect your Ipod and check the "sincronize videos" option. breNda!
