Question about Pioneer Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

I have a Pioneer VSX-4400 stereo receiver (400 watts). Everything about it works, it turns on and all the channels work. The only problem is it turns off while playing music (the unit itself stays on, but there is a clicking sound and it ceases to play music. It then will resume playing music, particularly when you turn the volume down). It quits playing music usually at higher volumes, however it will also cut the music when played at low volumes if its left to play for an extended period. It clicks, the music ceases, then after a 5 to 10 second pause it clicks again and the music resumes. I have 4 speakers hooked up to it, all of which are 4 ohms. Ive tried wiring them first in parallel then tried wiring them in series, but the issue of the music cutting out randomly still occurs in both wiring configurations. Can you guys please help me troubleshoot this problem? I am not very familiar with the internals of a stereo receiver, and would really like to get someone knowledgeable to help me if I need to play surgery and change a breaker.

SOURCE: Double clicking sound- no power

The relay contacts are most likely bad in the relay and will most likely happen again. If you know how to solder, take out the relay and look up the numbers on the internet and see what you can find. If not, try to find where the manufactuer is located and call them to see where you can get a new relay. Good Luck

SOURCE: Low volume from Akai turntable attached to Pioneer Surround Sound Receiver

If you receiver doesn't have phono inputs, you will need to buy an inline phono amplifier.Phono inputs have a built in amplifier, all others don't.Try Crutchfield.com.If they don't carry them, they will tell you who does.

SOURCE: PIONEER VSX-9700S

Speakers must be selected on the front panel of the rcver, and tape ll monitor must be "off", or at least have an outboard processor attached to the tape ll loop. "A" or "B" doesn't matter, but one must be selected to hear program material. If all connections are correct and it still won't work, consider that the output stage has failed....accordianman

SOURCE: have a pioneer VSX-D603S and just added bose 100

What model of Bose, how connected on what channels? Do you know the impedance? If they came from one of their all-in-one systems you're playing with fire (almost literally) mixing them with non-Bose amplifiers.

No sound out of the pioneer vsx-1121-k

Hello,
Try removing all the speaker and the HDMI connections; then use a headphone to listen to music from the tuner or a CD in stereo mode. Better in direct mode. If you hear your music correctly the receiver could be working correctly. If no music is heard, you may need to have it repaired professionally.
If you can hear music, connect the main FL & FR speakers and verify you can hear music that way, without the headphone connected.
If you can hear music that way, connect the center and rears. Try a mode that uses all channels to verify all sound channels are working.
Then, and only then start adding your HDMI connections.
Good luck

Have a Pioneer stereo receiver, Model VSX-4400 (made in 1989). It works just fine. My question is: will it work with high def? Thanks!

No. It does not have the required inputs and output connections nor digital decoding to support any hi-def formats.

Pioneer vsx-454

Any speaker that can handle 100 watts or more. This receiver is rated for 100 watts per channel into an 8 ohm speaker. If the speaker is less than that, it will make the amplifier work harder and heat up faster.

Pioneer VSX-01 TXH receiver turns off

Sounds like the speaker circuit is overloading or the receiver is overheating.

Check to make sure all speakers are in phase. Pos to Pos. Neg to Neg.

Make sure receiver has plenty of cooling room.

Hope this helps.

Series the speakers, they may not get as much power as you would like, but your receiver will last longer.

Sound Just Stopped Working

I have the same problem with my 49txi, and I called pioneer and a repair shop as well. Both told me that the 49txi has a known problem with over heating and that its boards unsolder themselves. I would have thought Pioneer would stand behind something this expensive, but that was the old Pioneer in the 80s, and the new Pioneer says we are on our own.
