Hi Marie, does the green indicator light on the front panel flash after it shuts down? If it does...count how many times it flashes this will refer to a fault code diagnostic.

Check the remote thermostat batteries

This is not a split system a/c unit guys. Look at the picture. The blinking light means the air filter may need cleaning. Reset power to turn it off.

Drain motor get locked. call repairman to disassemble your indoor for drain pan cleaning and reset. Unit will work o.k.. Helpful?

You need to note the pattern of the flashes, short or long flashes etc.
there is a legend that explains all the possible codes.

Example: 3 long flashes 1 short flash, the legend will say something like hi pressure safety switch
or low pressure safety switch , this could mean dirty coils, inside and outdoors, or bad fan motors either location as well, the compressor may be over heating or overloading, or be gong bad. a capacitor may be the culprit, what you can do is see the fuses and airflows good and no coils blocked etc , notice if any motors stop causing the flasing lockout condition.
