Dryer drum wont start spinning after pushing the start button
I can trick the dryer into starting by opening the door pushing in the saftey lockout button and then hand push the drum to get it started and then it will spin on it's own. Won't start with a full load of clothes just buzzes and smells like burning.

The problem is with the start winding on your dryer motor.it is centrifical switch,so if a lint build up gets in that motor switch area it stays on the run winding.pop the top .remove the frount.pull drum.vacume motor out if then starts on own great.other wise you need new motor.parts about 100$God bless, tom

you have a bad motor,if you open the door, hold the door switch in with one hand and spin the drum with the other and have someone else push the start button on and if by helping it to spin it starts usually the motor is bad but i did find on the maytag neptune style dryer that the belt cut into the belt pulley and was holding up the drum and the motor was buzzing like it was bad but like i say usually it's the motor.next time send the brand name and model number and i can help you out better.
not a good model number, most likely you have a broken belt as long as it starts, heats but the drum doesn't spin,if you get a buzzing sound and it doesn't start you could have something stuck in the blower wheel, the motor is jammed or the motor is bad,you can open the door, push the door switch in,spin the drum with your other hand and have someone push the start button,if it starts you have a bad motor.
I have found that the switch activated by the door close or turns on the interior light when open on is likely the problem. You may notice that if the door is open and you push the start button, it will buzz. So if the door is closed and you get this buzz when pushing the start button, there is a problem with the door switch. The start button "thinks" the door is open, and therefore not start. The defective door switch needs to be replaced. At least highly likely.
if it's a humming sound the motor is bad or something is jammed keeping the motor from spinning.open the dryer door and move the drum by hand if the drum can't be moved the belt could be jammed on something or there's something stuck in the blower wheel.the blower wheel is behind the duct that the lint filter slides into.if you can move the drum then you most likely have a bad motor, try spinning the drum and push the door switch in and have someone else push the push to start button and see if the dryer will start,if the motor has a flat spot it could start like this.let me know what you find
the motor is going bad..push in the door switch on the dryer,an it start an spin the drum ,it it works, replace dryer motor,or purchase a new open....turn start button, pusn in door switch, spin drum by hand...all at same time....hope this helps...dryer may run a couple of times...good luck...michael..doctor airr appl.repair...843-384-8474....
Open door. Hold door button. Have someone push start button. When they push start button, spin the drum wiht your hand. If it starts working, the problem is the start windings in the motor are not being energized. Could be capacitor but not all motors use them. Could be the syntrifugal switch in the motor or something else in the starting system. May want to think about getting another dryer from a place like Lowes. They are usually around $200 and up for a good one.
either you are missing one leg of your 240 volt feed(chk receptacle) or on a capacitor start motor the cap is weak,if you have 240volts open dryer door and spin drum by hand and have someone push dryer start button at same time you spin drum the cap is just in circuir to start dryer mtr(be careful diong this)hope it helps(otherwise
first thing you need to do is open the door and try to rotate drum by hand it it is not turn by hand that mean there is some thing stack in your blower fan. if you can turn the drum by hand you need two people to check this problem..one open the door there is one push button, push that button and hold now second person need to push the start button when you heard hums sound the turn the drum by hand again if your dryer stat spin that mean you have bad motor. (forgive me for my english)
