Question about Sylvania G-Netbook
I get an excellent signal strength but when trying to connect to Wifi it says the WEP key I entered contains invalid digits for the specified size?
The WEP key is configured in the router's wireless settings.
Go the the router's wireless setting to get this key.

SOURCE: trying to connect to wifi
The WiFi software that is embeded into the OS does not work very well. Fortunately digitalgadget.com has a download that somewhat fixes this problem fairly well. The new download is not totally goof proof, but you can work with it.
Go to: http://www.digitalgadgets.com/netbooks/update.html and download the indicated update. You can copy it to a thumb drive and connect the thumb drive to your Sylvania , find it under My Computer and then copy it to your
desktop and run it from there.

The signal strength is of the LAN modem. Only when the internet connection is provided to the LAN modem, you will be able to access internet on your notebook.

wifi connection indicates the local connectivity with your modem or router, it has nothing much to do with the router as long as you have a stable ip and a good hardware communication between your lap and the router. DNS represent the server at far which takes care of the DNS zone, to which you connect to get the packets while the lap communicates with another system. Check if the same error is shown if you try another DNS machine. Also ping and see if the DNS ip responds... Good luck.

Yes in that case it is your router. You need to adjust your setting, could be a web filtering, client filtering, or even time limit filtering that has been turn on. Check your router settings.
