Disregard the previous comment. Basically go to the Canon website and download the software for the camera if the one you bought did not come with the cd. The link is:http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/co...

Click drivers and software...choose your Operating System... and click SOFTWARE from the list when it shows. You download and install. Keep in mind (for example): If you are using Windows 7 you download that version, however if you are using Windows 7 64bit download that one. To check the version you are using; right click on My Computer(Computer if you are using Vista/Win 7) and hit properties. It should show you the name/version of operating system you are using. Please also note, most camera's these days allow you to acces the photo's directly from the memory card(if it is inserted into the camera) so you MAY be able to access them from opening that drive itself (There are drivers for that as well, see the drivers section of the above link I posted).

Please help... I have purchased a new Apple desktop. I would like to try my hand at E-bay. I have pictures stored in a Canon PowerShot SD550. I do not know how to upload these pictures into the computer...

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

What cord do I use where to upload photos onto computer

The Panasonic Lumix digital camera you bought comes with an USB cable. Try to find the data cable port in the sides of your cam and insert. The other end must also go to your PCs USB port. Even without an installer, the PC will be able to detect your camera as a removable drive. Explore your Camera as a removable drive and extract your desired picture files into your PC of laptop.

There is a certain thing you can buy that has a cord that hooks up to your computer, and then you put your camera in the little holder and it uploads. BUT if you dont want to spend your money on that, yes you need a USB cord to upload. Your camera should have come with A USB cord, manual,CAMERA (:, a software disk, etc.
