I have a d-link DP 301u can't print to printer

I send a test print it goes to the printer queue and it says it sent to printer but printer has no response and the usb light on the print server does not light. And then the job is out of the queue. Any ideas?

Are you able to see the print server on the network using the tcp/ip address assigned to it?

Found it just not to be a good product could not get it to work properly.
Took a netgear ps121 and had it connected and working in less than 5 minutes and could use the manager sofrare that came with the printer.

I solved my problem. I switched off the netgear rooter for several minutes to reset it. Just switching it off and on doesn't work.

Printing Problem

i got my dp-301u to work fine with my hp1020 on 2 different workstations with the following steps.

1. install printer locally via usb and test.
2. create a second printer as per the dlink manual creating a port. don't worry about the name as we will delete it.
3. once created go into the properties of the 2nd printer and change the port to something local - anything will do to free up the port.
4. go into the properties of the printer that was created in step 1. and change the port to that of the print server.
5. test print. should work fine.

cheers!!

No documents are sent to the print queue when attempting to print to a printer through a DP-301U. Printing in Vista works fine, but not so much with XP.

Check and see if the drivers are installed correctly and configured on both pc's.Then see if the printer is installed and that sharing is enabled on the network. Mike tekman2300@yahoo.com let me know when you complete these steps and if it worked.

Did you try using LPR mode instead? I find it works more relyable with any print server. SMB (windows network mode) is ****. I have had simalar problems with another printserver.

I have one of theses D-Link PD-301U. It does NOT support a printer like yours. According to D-Link's Web site, here are the HP Laser printers it supports (note the P1006 is NOT in the list):
