I have a brand new acer aspire 5730Z notebook, but having problem with empowering. I've downloaded all the drivers from the acer support, and managed to install gridvista, VCM and also eFramework, ePower. BUT. Everytime I try to run it, either pressing the "e" button, or using the .exe the program immediately collapses and leaves me a critical problem message. I tried to uninstall-reinstall, and also downloaded other eFrame drivers (previous versions), but the problem is still unsolved, I get the same messages. any ideas?

there is no such thing as a free download of a microsoft product
you may get a disc for win 8 but to make it work you will have to buy the licence to register it and that is as costly as buying the disc to start with
the only free operating systems are LINUX--ubantu and it is far better than microsoft when you get the hang of uing it
There may be one available as a block diagramme for a fee on a web site somewhere but that is not common.
Most manufacturer trained computer engineers know how motherboards work alongside the firmware and chosen software so there is no call for them.
Remove the battery and power source. Remove the RAM and hdd. Power up with the power supply and it should do something. If it does, replace the RAM and hdd it should now restart. If nothing, check the GPU.

Manual. I suspect that the information you have been given regarding battery removal and passwords refers to removing the cmos battery as in a PC in the hope that it will clear Bios activated passwords.
It sounds like it could be either the battery is going bad and not holding a charge or the adapter is. I have had really good luck with similar problems going to places like Batteries +, and large electronic retailers, and my favorite the small local mom and pop computer store; where I end up asking them If I could try one of the adapters from the floor model to eliminate if is a faulty adapter.
